Which ocean? Atlantic or Pacific?

Please help me settle an argument with my brother. He claims the Atlantic Ocean is more beautiful than the Pacific Ocean, but I say they are pretty much equal except that the Pacific cost line is more dramatic than the Atlantic coast line. Which would you rather visit?

The Pacific, unless I wanted to go swimming-- then the Atlantic

The Atlantic is much wetter than the Pacific

If this is all you and your brother have to disagree about then my hat is off to you.

I assume that you're talking about the U.S. coastline. I'd have to agree that they both have a lot to offer but the Pacific U.S. coastline is more dramatic.

I disagree with Waldo though...I think the Pacific is wetter.

Since I live closer to the Atlantic, I'd rather visit the Pacific but I prefer the Carribean over either.

Having lived on both I would say its a toss up. My preference is for the PNW and the NE areas...I love the rocky cliffs!

Wow, there is no settling that argument. Are we talkin Portland, ME or Jacksonville FL? San Diego, Acapulco or Lincoln City, OR?

Once you get out in them about 12 miles, they look and act extremely similar. It's a toss-up.

I think if you saw the "Pacific Coast Line" from Australia/Japan/Alaska/Guam/Hawaii/Wake/Truk etc you might be right.

If you saw the "Atlantic Coast Line" from Newfoundland/the west coast of Africa/the East Coast of South America you might be right.

If you saw them both from Panama, well who knows?

Assuming you can fudge a little and call the Caribbeana little inlet of the Atlantic

Personally, if you want to swim and frolic in the waves and enjoy walking the beach I'd have to say the Atlantic. Or better yet, the Gulf.

But the cliffs and crashing waves of the Pacific are profoundly mesmerizing to me. Vancouver Island, BC (Pacific Rim) last fall did it for me, it was simply breathtaking.
