If it's a GOOD park, it's going to be crowded.
July is going to be hot in the Southwest but Arches and Canyonlands National Park are beautiful.
Yellowstone will be crowded but it's a must see.
For fewer crowds I would recommend Glacier National Park in Montana.
Jasper National Park and Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada is even more beautiful than Glacier IMHO.

Take a look at Mammoth Cave National park. There are several different cave tours and you can book them ahead of time, which is great. The caves are 58 degrees year round, so it feels wonderful in summer. You might want to do a couple Nat'l parks in KY. Not a bad drive from you and we have some awesome beauty.
