Which hotel in Maui???

I will be going to Maui is September and need help or suggestions on where to stay. I am looking at the Hyatt, Westin & Embassy Suites. I would love any input or any suggestions that you could recommend. Will I need a rental car?

Westin has not received good reviews. Embassy Suites has. Hyatt has. Look at Marriott, The rooms are much larger than Hyatt and the grounds are almost as nice and is probably the least expensive of teh 3 you mentioned. You will definatley need a car. No publis trans and there is so much to see on Maui. We just booke dour 7th trip for 2/99 and will be at Marriott and Mauna Lani on Big Island.
If I can answer any other questions e-mail me.

I have to put my vote in for the Hyatt. It's really amazing. I also have to disagree that the grounds at the Marriott are almost as nice as the Hyatt's -- truly the Marriott's not even close. I don't know about the room size, but the Hyatt atmosphere is just pure luxury.

I also second the vote on a rental car. You'll definitely need it and it's very easy to drive in Maui.

Personally, if money is not an issue-I would stay at the Four Seasons Resort in Wailia. This area is much nicer in my opinion than the Kanapali area. If you need more information e-mail me.

I second Nancy, above, on recommonding Wailea (or Makena) over Kaanapali as a general area in which to stay. THe Kaanapali hotels, as i remember them, are generally older, more crowded together, and not as picturesque and luxurious as those further south on the Maui coast. The Maui Prince, where we stayed 3 years ago, was very nice and quiet, but a bit farther than the Four Seasons and others in Wailea. I've also heard that the Ritz in Kapalua is great, if $ isn't an issue.

Andrea,

My husband and I spent a week at the Hyatt last September for our honeymoon. We absolutely loved it (not as much as the Hyatt in Kauai though). The grounds and pool are impeccable! Be sure to have dinner at Swan Court it is quite a lovely restaurant.

A car is a must in Maui as there are lots of things to do Road to Hana, Iao Valley and even visiting their mall which is pretty big. Have a great time!!
