Where's Everyone Going for Valentine's Day?
Is anyone going anywhere fun tomorrow? We are headed up to the Chuckchansi Gold Resort and Casino for the night. This place is in Coarsegold, CA. The rooms were just finished in June, so it will be interesting to see how it turned out.
We have been to the casino, but I'm looking forward to spending the night. Seven great restaurants on-site. We have dinner reservations at Ducey's on the Lake for dinner in Bass Lake. Always wonderful here.
The next day we will do the wine tasting at Erna's Elderberry House and have lunch at their cafe. Should be a nice time and not too far from home! www.basslake.com and www.chuckchansigold.com are some websites for those interested. Happy Valentine's Day! ***kim***

My daughter is going to Birmingham AL tomorrow. She THOUGHT she was going today, but after her flight from Providence to National (DC) she and her husband and infant got bumped. Fortunately, we have relatives in the DC area that they can stay with.
Apparently National was an an oversold zoo complete with overloaded shuttle buses and nonsense excuses about the flight not really being oversold, just too heavy for B'ham's short runways. Excuse me, did the runway change suddenly?! It's school vacation week for a lot of places here in the Northeast, all the flights are booked solid, what a mess.

J, that sounds really fun! Where do you go for your dim sum? We almost booked a room at the Fairmont and got Lion King tickets, but have to be back on Sun. to take the gang snow-boarding! Have fun! SF is such a romantic place. ***kim***

We just spent the last 5 hours driving up from L.A. to Monterey. And here we are!!! Going to the wharf for dinner tonight, and for Valentine's Day, I booked us for Fandangos in Pacific Grove.
Decided at the last minute that we were leaving too late, as usual, so didn't take the bikes as planned. It looks like the weather is going to hold (only a little rain for about 5 minutes outside of King City), so we'll rent tomorrow, then head over to Pt. Lobos (a first for me!).

Surfergirl, you are in for a nice treat with Pt. Lobos! Enjoy our beautiful coast and Happy Valentine's Day! BTW, California Market at the Highland's Inn is a great place for apps and a glass of wine on their beautiful outdoor patio! ***kim***

My 17 year old daughter is using her own money (!) to take dear old Mom to dinner. She has instructed me to be ready by 6:15pm and she's driving.
I am sure it'll be Chili's or TGI Friday's but to me it might as well be a 5 Star restaurant. It's so sweetwhen your kids do nice things for you. I am very lucky.

Gosh, I'm so jealous. I spent my Valentines day with my feet propped and reading Fodor's posts. I'm recovering from self-inflicted surgery, but I should be rarin' to go to California in 4 weeks. Yeah!
TxTravelPro, that was such a nice sentiment. I have a 17 & 18 year old. Actually I'd welcome it from the 17 year old. If it was the boy (18) I'd just be fretting because he spends all his money!
Hope you all had a great Valentine's Day!

kimamom - we go to Hong Kong Seafood on Noriega and 33rd. The food is good, the prices are low AND it's easy to find street parking out in that neighborhood. In Chinatown I like New Asia on Pacific. We go there if we are going to be downtown anyway.
