Where would you travel with a two year old?

HellO!! I am trying to figure out where to travel at the end of September. I have a two year old and I want to have a lot of fun. Disney World just seems a waste of money when he won't remember it. Any suggestions? We live in Atlanta. THANKS!!!!

Go to the beach - your child will be entertained while you enjoy yourself.

I agree, go buy a new pail & shovel and head for a beach. A resort with a beach would be even better and I hear that there are some good ones in Georgia.

I agree with the beach--Kiawah Island or better yet--Sanibel Island off the Gulf Coast of Florida--family style, casual, we used to go the with 2 year olds--find a condo with a kiddie pool, kitchen for breakfasts and don't hesitate to take your kid to an early dinner at one of the smaller restaurants. Just pray there's no hurricane!!

I agree with the others. However I think Cape May is a nice place to take a two year old. You have the beach during the day and the Wildwood boardwalk at night. The boardwalk has rides suitable for a two year old. Cape May also has horse and buggy rides and a ton of boat rides. There is just so much to do even for a two year old. You can make it an affordable trip and then go to Disney World when he is a little older. Jessica at the Queen Victoria B&B.

Just go somewhere YOU want to go. Time is precious in our lives. A 2-yr old won't remember anything, but can get impressions from environment.Do not pick a place where there is a big single scene, as baby would not be accepted. A beach is probably best. I love Ponte Vedra Inn in Jacksonville, which should still be warm enough. My children have great memories of that place--- ask for oceanfront unit. Or for something more adventuresome , maybe Cancun or St. Thomas, all nonstop flights from Atlanta.

Jenn,

After three children, many long trips, and a lot of agravation, I finally figured out something. Children don't care where you go, as long as there is a pool and it is not at home. I have travelled all over the U.S. and some of the best vacations have been 20 miles away...because I don't have to hear...are we there yet? This usually happens on the way to the airport...makes for a very long trip... Figure out someplace close and go and enjoy yourself.

We will be taking our 18 month old to Cancun, Mexico the last week of September! It is a relatively cheap vacation, only a 2 1/2 hour flight from Dallas (where we are), and SO relaxing, because it is an all-inclusive, with all food, drink, hotel, tax, tip, airfare, transfers, etc. included in the one price. We went in May (Vanessa was 13 months old then) and came back totally relaxed and un-stressed-out so we decided to return!

If you would be interested, e-mail me and I will give you all the details. BTW, it would be very cool to see other people with a baby there, if you wanted to meet up and pool toys for an afternoon or something! When we went before, the staff just fawned all over Vanessa, but she was one of only 4 small childen the whole week we were there. We got to know the parents of the other small children quite well and that was fun.

I agree that children don't really care where they go as long as there is something for them to do. While my child has never turned down a beach or a pool, I would also never hesitate to take her to a place with some intellectual stimulus. We all enjoy the sand, but I have found that as long as a good city sturdy stroller is with me, we can also have a great time in a big city. Taking walks to museums, fountains, parks, toy stores, markets, restaurants... can be surpirsingly relaxing, exciting and enjoyable for everyone. We always seem to have fun exploring new places. And when those tense times arise, as they do with a child on any holiday, there's nothing like a good hotel picnic. Visit a few local markets, let the child help plan the menu, and then return to your room for a feast. It works everytime.
