Where would you go for Christmas ?
If you were on your own, where would you go for Christmas? I'm looking for somewhere in North America where I can have a nice holiday.
I don't mean I want to go to a local church or hotel for a Christmas meal.
I'm more looking for a nice holiday, with something to do on Christmas, even if it's window shopping or laying on the beach..
To give you an idea, last year I went to South Beach, Fl and enjoyed the beach on Christmas day. The year before, I went to New York and went to Radio City Music Hall on Christmas and then went to the theatre in the evening.
SO, any ideas would be welcome. I'm up for anything.

I am on my own and have become addicted to spending Christmas in Vegas. The displays are so beautiful and many (not all) malls are open. (I was shocked that Fashion Show Mall was closed.) So far, I have spent the holiday with dear ones. Once, my running partner was there with her friend. Another time, a friend dropped in. Last year, my cousin and her family was there. it added to the holiday, but the city is such that you could do it solo with no problem.

Well I know you said North America-
but one year when my daughter and I were alone - we went on a cruise.
It was great- and we sat at the same table every night so kind of got to know the people we sat with- I thought it was a great way to spend Xmas without a family to be with

kodi, had to laugh when I read your post - I spent last year in Key West/South Beach over the holidays, and a few years before was my first trip to the Big Apple, including Radio CMH on the eve!
Actually, I chose S FL last year with a similar post and recs & help from Fodorites! But, you're doing much better than I since I posted in November or something...LOL!
Also did Quebec City for 2004 - I'll follow this thread and if you choose to go there I'll post some tips from my trip.
Vegas sounds like a blast. As for me, I think we're going to lose our minds and try our first trip to Disney World this Christmas.
Have fun choosing - enjoy-la!

Oh my goodness Ike, if only......
It looks fabulous, but a bit too rich for my blood.
Actually any lodge or resort type places are usually based on double occupancy. The single supplement makes them too expensive for me.
I don't mind the cold, but don't ski.
Klam_chowder, that is so funny. Does that mean next year I should go to Disney?
Colonial Williamsburg looks beautiful. But I'm kind of hoping not to have to rent a car.
Someone at work suggested Santa Fe or San Diego. What do you think of these places for Christmas?

Sorry Kodi. If I was in your shoes I would definitely be doing the same kind of planning you're doing. Someone said Key West. I bet all holidays are celebrated with gusto in Key West. Las Vegas would be the same.
Wherever you decide to go have fun and Merry Christmas.
