Four adults looking for a place to stay on the outer banks in June - Would like to spend about a week and I am overwhelmed by the real estate ads on the web. Can anyone make a suggestion - we have never been there before - I have been told the area around Duck is nice.... I am open to any suggestions.

You were told right.. Duck is very nice. We rented a place in Nags Head, and though we had a great vacation, the house was very run down, and the neighborhood kind of crowded and cheesy. We drove up to Duck for lunch and shopping one day, and its much nicer.

I know someone who rents out a beautiful house in Duck. Email me direct for more info. Try a rental company called "The Young People." I rented from them when I lived there and never had a problem. They have a wide variety of properties.

You really can't go wrong if you stay anywhere north of Kill Devil Hills. This stretch up through Duck and Corolla is all relatively new and the properties show that. The farther north you get the newer the properties. We have stayed in the "Ocean Sands" area , setions A, B, and C. The houses are quite far apart compared to other sections and we almost always had a long stretch of beach to ourselves and maybe 10 other people. You are right about being overwhelmed with the choices. I would suggest that you call any one of the realty companies represented on the web. I found their personnel to be quite helpful. We've used Kitty Hawk Rentals and Sun Realty without any problems. Chat with those people to get some background and then go to the web. If you stay closer to Duck then you can maybe walk to the village for your shopping and eating out. We prefered the less condensed area but then had to drive everywhere. Pay attention to the distance from the ocean mentioned for each property. Once you narrow down your neighborhood that can help you make a decision. If anyone plays golf that might be a consideration for location. With 4 adults going and assuming you are splitting the costs and going in June, I would think the choices would be many. You can get alot for your money, even a private pool. I'm not sure I'd pay the big bucks for "ocean front" when for hundreds of dollars less you might be just 1 or 2 properties back. But then again divided by 4. After you do some research write again. I'd call soon to get a feel about how quickly you need to act. You will have a wonderful, relaxing time.
