Where to stay in Vail?

Why do some people have to be rude?
I have not stayed at Vail, but have been looking for places there also.
Vail Village is the center of everything, but pricey. I found Lionshead to have lower prices, with shops, restaurants and a smaller village.
I don't know what your price range is, but a few places I looked at and liked were Antlers at Vail, Lionsquare Lodge, Mountain Haus, and Lodge at Lionshead. They all have web sites.
Good luck!

We stayed in Vail this past summer at the Gasthof Gramshammer hotel. It was FANTASTIC! We stayed in a room that was called something like the Gore Suite or similar, and it was an extra-large room with king bed, nice bath, etc. It's right in the heart of Vail, with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. I highly recommend it!

We decided to stay in Vail as as a last minute decsion on a cross-country trip. We just popped into the Vail Tourist Info. office, they serve as a clearinghouse for all the condos. They made the phone calls and had us a nice two bedroom in a few minutes. Liked it so much we stayed two more nights.

I live in Colorado and I have always stayed at the Tivoli Lodge when I go to Vail. It is small, quaint, is in the village, has it's own parking lot, and once you've parked your car, you won't have to drive again unless you want to go to Beaver Creek. (Vail has a free circulating bus system that takes you wherever you want to go in the village or to Lionshead, which is the ski area just to the west. Beaver Creek is 11 miles west of Vail)It is owned by the parents of Buddy Lazier, the Indy 500 race car driver. The rooms aren't large but are very cozy with a balcony on the second floor rooms. The prices are very reasonable, which is unusual for Vail. If the above fits your criteria, the Tivoli is great. I agree with the writer about Pepi's. Great place, great location...just a bit pricey for me.

Sorry...I called Gastof Grammshammer Pepi's because that's how I always think of it....owned by Pepi and Sheika Grammshammer...former world-class skiers. The restaurant at the lodge is called Pepi's and is at the crossroads of the Vail Village...great people watching there.
