Where to stay in Key West?

We are going to Key West next week. Where should we stay? We want to be near Duval/where things are going on. Don't want to spend a fortune, but doesn't need to be the cheapest place either.

Linda, check out Keywest.com, you can't really go wrong. We stayed at the Key Lime Inn last year, you could walk to Duval from there although we didn't. It was very clean and we enjoyed it very much. Don't miss Louie's Backyard for lunch or dinner, great views and awesome food.

If I were you I'd do a search on this board for past responses on accommodations. We've stayed at the Hyatt, Galleon and Ocean Key House, but all are fairly pricey, and the Galleon is difficult to book. There are lots of B&Bs in all price ranges and I'm sure you'll find something you'll like. My favorite web site is keywestparadise.com...just double-click on "accommodations"

My husband and I just got back from Key West. We got our hotel through priceline.com and were very happy. We wound up at the Hilton Resort & Marina for $55 per night (lowest advertised room rate = $169). The location was awesome, right near Mallory square, Sloppy Joe's on Duval, etc. We missed out on the typical guesthouse experience in Key West, but to be honest, we were rarely in our room. We did visit the Marquesa Hotel and spoke with Mike. Marquesa's concierge/manager, super nice guy. This small hotel is gorgeous and the people were very friendly there. If you call directly Mike might be able to offer a discount since it's low season. Beautiful place. Good luck and enjoy!

Went to Key West earlier this year. Stayed at the Heron House and loved it. It's just a block away from Duval, but it is very peaceful and pretty once you enter their gate. Try Alice La-Te-Da for dinner (wonderful!) and Mangoes at lunch or dinner (great lunches).
