Bluff - Ensure you see Barton's log cabin located on 5th and Main St. It is the oldest building in town and has the original well.
One of the finest Anasazi Indian ruins (1,000 years old) is Bluff Cliff Dwelling - about a one mile one-way easy hike hike. Everyone knows its location - Entry is at milepost 44.0 on highway 163.
When you leave Bluff driving south, look for Milepost 22.1.
This is Sand Island where boats are launched, but more important it contains one of the finest petroglyph panels in Utah. When in Bluff, find an image of Kokopelli - ancient Hopi Indian fertility 'god'. Then look for him at Sand Island. At MP 22.1 turn east and then right before the cattle guard and then 400 yards to the panel.

The Wolfman Panel is easy to get to and it is outside of Bluff. Just ask Jim or LuAnne at the Recapture for directions.
If you feel the need for a guide while in Bluff, contact Vaughn at Far Out Expeditions. http://faroutexpeditions.net
He is very experienced and has so many great stories about his experiences in the area. He is very respected by other leaders and archeologists/anthropologists who work in the area.

The wolf man site, while interesting is non one I would take two small children to. There is a picture of my husband climbing down to the ledge that leads to it at

in the May 2009 set. I was worried that he would slip down the cliff with the keys to the rental car in his pocket and me with no cell service and not a soul in sight. Then I have to decide if I risk climbing down to get the keys or hike out for help. Tough choice.

Yes, Wolfman Panel isn't hard but does have some exposure. Probably not relaxing for parents of young boys. Sand Island is cool, rock art AND a rolling river. You really don't want to miss the Moki Dugway either. Fun drive and great views.
