Where to stay and eat in Carmel Cal.

Will be going to the Monterey Bay Peninsula in Aug. Looking for ideas as to places to stay and eat.

In monterey, stay at Hotel Pacific. They have great suites, fireplaces, afternoon tea, but very casual and comfortable. Great location, walking distance to everything in Monterey. I think they have a web site. We were there 18 months ago.

I would recommend staying at the Embassy Suites in Seaside (just a few minutes from Monterey). It is a beautiful hotel with big rooms and includes a huge breakfast. Carmel and Monterey are just minutes away. Restaurants I like in Pacific Grove include the Fishwife and Peppers Mexicali. In Carmel I like Club Jalapeno and Forge in the Forrest, and in Pebble Beach, Roys (expensive but awesome food and setting).

I also really like Fishwife in Pacific Grove--good wine list as well!

You might enjoy Casanova's restaurant if you're in the mood for a romantic dinner. The Forge in the Forest is fun for lunch. Roy's at the Inn on Spanish Bay(a short drive away) is a great place for fish and if you arrive at sundown and have drinks on the patio, you can listen to the bagpiper as he strolls by.
