Where to stay?

We are planning a trip to Cooperstown for the Hall of Fame induction at the end of July. We also want to see as much as we can of the east coast (we are from the L.A. area). Where should we stay that is central to Cooperstown, Boston, Bristol,Ct? It's our one vacation this year so we plan on spending alot to stay in a nice place. Any suggestions would help!

Thanks.

Shan, Cooperstown and Boston are roughly 250 miles/ 4.5 hours apart. Rather than staying at a midpoint, you might want to stay in one place close to Cooperstown and then come to Boston. What are you planning to do in Bristol?

I'm with Joanne. It's nearly four hours driving from Cooperstown to Bristol and another two hours from Bristol to Boston. However, if you really want a "base" between the three, you might want to consider Lenox or Stockbridge (home of the Norman Rockwell Museum). Lenox, in particular, has some truly posh and pampering country inns, amazing dining, and is a spectacularly gorgeous town and area. Lenox to Cooperstown is 2-1/2 hours. To Bristol, 1-1/2 hours. To Boston, 2-1/4 hours. And, the scenery between all your destinations is wonderful.

P.S. Lenox and Stockbridge are in the Berkshire Mountains in Western Massachusetts. For information on the area, try www.berkshires.com

Thanks so much for the suggestions. Is there one particular place in Lenox that is the best to stay at? It probably makes sense for us to fly into Boston and stay there and then work our way towards Cooperstown. We are planning on visiting ESPN in Bristol. Is there anything else that are "must sees" in those areas Mass, Conn, NY? We will be there for about a week.

Thanks for the help!
