Rosetta, I don't mean to sound snotty, but do a search on this website and you'll see the arguements about which is better, etc. This topic is usually covered once a week, and sometimes our fingers get tired of retyping!
Also, I recommend www.lvol.com for GREAT reviews on hotels, casinos, restaurants, etc. You won't believe how many people comment each day after their stays.
Enjoy your travel!

Well, let's start a DISCUSSION here, okay? First, 4-5 nights in Vegas is a LONG time to spend there; an eternity, in my view. Second, it kind of defeats one of the great attributes of Las Vegas to go there and drop MAJOR dollars for a hotel room. This is a place where you can get very decent rooms during large parts of the summer for LOW prices. For my money, I'll save the 5-star experience for another city, where the disparity between "very good" and "awesome" justifies the more reasonable premium between the two. Just my opinion.

Just got back from Vegas. Did not book a package. Booked flight separately, flew down, walked into Mirage (beautiful tropic-style hotel), booked 4 nts. and saved $640. July is low-season, should have no problem doing the same thing. Bellagio is absolutely the most beautiful hotel--you'll love it. Spoke to attendant at hotel who said that you can get a room there in August for $90/nt. Also, you MUST see their show done by Cirque de Soleil called "O". Fabulous. Have fun. We did.

Laurel, you know the program! For others, you can "insure" your bet by finding a place where you can make a reservation that you can cancel with no penalty up to 6 p.m. (or whatever the policy is at the particular hotel). The problem with packages is that once you book, you pre-pay and your shopping is over.

I stayed at the Paris last April and thought it was a very nice hotel and unusual. The rooms are big with big bathrooms and it was reasonably priced. The Bellagio is gorgeos and luxorious but you pay. If you want to spend less the Paris is a very nice hotel.
