Where to go for Alpine slides?

We're a family of four (kids ages 12 and 9) looking for Alpine slides. We'll be in Colorado - RMNP area, Vail, Aspen, Boulder Georgetown and Colorado Springs in Aug. We are also lookg for ghost towns in these areas if you know of any. Thank you.

Dont know if they still do, but Breckenridge had a great alpine slide several years ago when we were there.

There are several ghost towns near Aspen. Independence is apropriately along Independence Pass 13.5 miles east of Aspen. Ashcroft is also near Aspen, 10 miles up Castle Creek Road from Highway 82 just west of downtown Aspen. The drive to both is stunning as you would imagine, but any of the areas you'll be will have stunning scenery anyway.

Check this website for info on both - http://www.aspenhistory.org/ac.html.

Breckenridge's Alpine slide is still there and quite popular.

What are you thinking of in the way of ghost towns? There are ruins of former mining towns scattered in many places throughout the Rockies. You'll see the ruins of many former towns on day hikes in the areas you're visiting, but what you'll see is ruins of a handful of old buildings. It's still quite interesting, though, and kids get a kick out of the ruins. The tourist offices in each town should have information.
