Where to go for 6 40something women?

Looking for condo/house for 6 40-something women. We're flexible, this spring/ summer/fall. Pretty surroundings and great dining a must, good shopping would be nice. Don't need 6 bedrooms, but at least 6 beds and 3 baths. We're open to place, considering everything from Santa Fe, Calif. Wine Country, Nantucket, but open to all ideas, so just let us know any suggestions for specific places to stay... annieladd

Helpful data for you to define:
Are you wanting more rural/scenic than big city?
Do you want to be entertained or get away from it all?
Is the group more active/sporty or refined/pampered?
Is this a no-budget trip for a special event?

Well, come to the sunny south and go to Big Canoe. It is a great gated community about an hour from Atlanta.

My college buddies and I get together and spend a weekend at Big Canoe every year...and we are all 50 something.

We have 6 girlfriends that go away once a year (we even have a name, the "Jewels"). We love Naples, FL...has lots of great restaurants and shopping and feels very European.
Have also done Riveria Maya area in Cancun but it tends to have a lot of couples in the resorts so we feel a little odd.
Depends what you are looking for.
We like to shop, have fabulous meals and enjoy the beach and cocktails and just relax as we're still raising our kids and getting away for the weekend.
If I had my preference I like sight seeing so I would suggest going to Arizona to hike, down south to botanical gardens and to Ashville NC to the artsy communities and who could pass up Bar Harbor Maine for active vacationing, but the rest of the group out votes me so these are trips I take with my family.
Hope it helps.
