Where to go for 3 days
My husband and I get an all expense paid trip for 3 days anywhere we want to go in the continental US. We are in Colorado and have been to San Fransisco a number of times. (We have been to other places also, but for longer than a long weekend) - where might you recommend? - BTW, we would be going in late January or February.

How about New Orleans? It's a fun city full of history, architecture, great food and cool music. Weather is generally better in January and February than in most other US locales. (This time of year, I'd stick to the south!)
Other possibilities I'd choose: San Diego/Palm Springs, San Antonio, or Florida.

Thanks everyone - those are the EXACT places we are thinking of!!! We are leaning towards New Orleans because the weather is a little better but who cares if you are in New York for FREE, or the history of DC and Vegas, well enough said -- Anyway, thanks for the input - makes us feel like we are on the right track!

Hmmm. Many NO suggestions !
Couple of ideas.
1. Go to some resort or hotel that you would never pay for yourself. A 5 star resort or hotel in the city of your choice. Even if it just a short distance from your home (ski resort, for example).
2. Add more days at your expense. Instead of 3 days, go for 5, 7 or 14 and pay the difference. The plane tickets will be paid for already, so why not add more time. Spend 3 days in posh settings and the rest on your budget.
3. What do you like to see or do?

We are thinking of extending our trip a bit but we have a one year old and a three year old that will not be coming with us so we can't be gone as long as we might like.
In answer to your other question, we love to eat! We loved San Fran for that reason. We like to go sight seeing and actually are up for anything since we will not have our kids with us (the Taco Bell drive through alone is appealing to us these days! :0)) The only thing we probably are not up for is real late night partying at a club or something. We are just glad to get away - we could do the ski resort thing, but we don't like skiing (hard to believe since we are native Coloradans) so we are looking for some "city" life.

Love to eat could be the theme of your trip. Try a trip to the Culinary Institute of America. Make a trip to NY. There are numerous culinary institutes in the US (check any search engine), but the one in NY is considered the best. They all have restaurants and are much fun! More can be found from this site http://www.sallys-place.com/food/che...sa.htm#newyork
Plan your trip around NYC restaurants. Zagat.com could be a starting point. Tip: Go to lunch instead of dinner (or both in your case) at the more expensive or crowded places, as the food is the same, the cost less (and the portions smaller) - in general.
