Where to get married in Maui?
Trying to plan my wedding and honeymoon in Maui for June. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to get married, quaint gazebos or gardens, nicest beach? I'd like to stay in the Kaanapali area and am torn between the Sheraton and the Westin. Any help would be appreciated.

I've posted recently on this subject and starting to sound like a broken record. My husband and I were married at the Hyatt REgency in July of '98 and it was a wonderful experience. You can get married on their beach, in their gazebos or in their Oriental gardens. They do a superb job, and it's a special time that I'll always remember.
If you want more details feel free to e-mail me! We called their wedding coordinator. Also, we just stayed at the Sheraton Maui 5 months ago, and although it was nice, it's not as nice as the Hyatt. For 300 more per couple, you can stay at the Hyatt and get free breakfast included every morning. At the sheraton Buffet breakfast or just breakfast is very expensive, as in most of the hotels. And after you factor in the "breakfast savings" by staying at the Hyatt, you're really not paying all that much more to stay at a much nicer all aroun hotel. The westin's pool is very nice. They were renovating the Westin when we were there in June. It's a nice property. However, their rooms are very small from what I've been hearing. The roooms at Sheraton are 300-maybe 400 square feet if you're lucky, and I've heard that the WEstin's are 275 sq. feet with hardly any balcony at all, and the Hyatt's rooms are 535 square feet with a small balcony.

We were married at the Maui Westin
on October 19th of this year. The
wedding was nice in their gazebo, very
prettu setting but the wedding coordinator was ambivalent, we were given a bedroom with double beds as a upgrade and has other problems at this
hotel including no hot water and phone service problems. Also the rooms are very small. We had our wedding dinner at the Hyatt's Swan Court and were treated like royalty.

I recommend the goat yard behind Mr. KrappyTiki's House of Crap. His goats keep the grass nicely trimmed and there's even a little summerhouse where you could hold the ceremony! Pay no attention to those get-a-lifers out there who try to tell you that it's a garden shed, it's really a lovely structure. The entire bridal party could later take a guided tour and purchase high quality, lasting mememtos of your cherised day at the House of Crap.
