Where is the best place to get Manhattan clam chowder in new york city? This topic popped up on the post about the lobster rolls in Manhattan.

Love the Oyster Bar in Grand Central and had a cup of the clam chowder, Manhattan style when we were in NYC in March and it was delicious!
I love this place but it gets razzed a lot which I don't understand, since the food was really good, service great and the place was packed.

I have heard a lot about the oyster bar at Grand Central. I guess it is one of the best places to get seafood also in new york. Is it expensive? I am looking for reasonable priced seafood restaurants. What about other NYC famous foods? What are the best places to get authentic new york bagels, pizza, or cheesecake? Or are famous for it?

I have to chime in about Totonnos..I had heard lots of bashing about how the Manhattan East Side branch was not as good as the one in Brooklyn. But we tried it last week and I thought the pizza was great. There is a coupon on their site:
http://www.totonnos.com/NYC.html
Of course the best pizza in the city is at DiFara in Brooklyn..recommended only for pizza fanatics.
