What do you like, and what's your price range?
In the Clearwater/Pinellas Beaches area, I have a few seafood favorites. Keegan's and Frenchy's Rockaway are casual and fairly inexpensive; Guppy's is a bit pricier and very good; and Salt Rock Grill is expensive and divine. Across the pond in Tampa, I always enjoy going to Rattlefish on the bay.
Lots of interesting ethnic restaurants can be found in Ybor City (in Tampa). Two of my favorites are Acropolis Greek Taverna and El Puerto (Argentinian).
One of my favorite Italian restaurants, "Gratzzi" is in downtown St. Pete a couple of blocks off of the Bay.

"Best" in Tampa is Bern's Steak House, international reputation. "Best" in Clearwater is hard to say. I like the Island Way Grill but it is fairly new.
You should post again with names of cities in your post. Also, there is a long post about St. Pete restaurants that is in here -- just search for it. Don't know where you are staying but from the north end of TAmpa to the western edge of Clearwater will take you at least a half-hour or more, especially if you will be there btwn. now and April. Where are you staying? Post again with all this information and you will get MANY more responses.
