Where do you like to go but wouldn't want to live there?

Seriously though (right). I was born and raised in RI. I don't ski, snowborad or ice skate, so what do I need with snow, anyway. The "thrill" of experiencing four seasons is WAY overrated. I can do without winter any day. No need for snow, ice, sleet, slush, freezing rain, or whatever (did I miss anything?).
Which is why I live where I do. It is a choice. I am retired now and I can't think of anywhare else (in the US) that I would want to live. sure, the summers can be "trying". But I would rather deal with that than with the horrible traffic in milder climates such as southern Cal.

That's funny, Trippin - I actually read a lot of MikeP's posts before we moved (my husband is a native Tusconan and we moved here for his job)and definitely appreciated them. What I'm really in need of is a lovely long drizzly rain!

A long drizzling rain would be nice. I miss that.......but not enough to move someplace where that is the norm rather than the exception.
Actually, I have been here in Tucson over 40 years (I really AM dating myself). But the truth is... I love the sun, I love being able to schedule anyoutdoor BBq or picnic and not have to worry about getting rained out.... any time of year. I love being able to be active (mostly comfortably) outdoors all winter, fall, and spring. Summer is another thing altogether. But even in summer, if you do your outdoors stuff early, it is very bearable.

I love New England. I love the smell of spring, the warmth of summer, the colors of the fall and the first snow storm. Winters can be trying but hey -- spring is right around the corner. When I retirr it's a few months in a warmer climate -- but for now I can handle the winters. there is NOTHING like the smell of the ocean -- any time of the year!!!!!!

I suspect you are commenting on my statement that I would never visit France. But how mistaken you are in your comment. I NEVER watch Fox news, and my political views (which have nothing to do with me not wanting to visit France) are nowhere near what you find in the avid Fox-news-watchers.
You really DO NOT have to have been somewhere to decide it just is someplace you would never want to visit. For example, I really also would never want to visit Iraq or Iran, either.

I wouldn't call myself mopey, just a bit homesick. We do get out every weekends for hikes in the mountains around town and have been down around Bisbee, Fort Huachaca (I'm sure I spelled that wrong), Tombstone, etc. I'm angling for a Northern AZ trip sometime this summer too. If you have Southern AZ trips that can be done with a dog, lay 'em on me!

jorr: just curious (because I live in Seattle) why would you go 'broke' living here, any more than anywhere else? Actually, utilities are relatively cheap here, gasoline is up, weather is mild, and people still walk someplaces, eating out is not prohibitive, etc.
