Where did you go on your "budget friendly" honeymoon?

and how did you decide on that location?

My fiance and I are trying to decide where we'd like to go for ours, which will be in October, but are on a tight budget. Looking to hear from some couples who were in the same situation for ideas. Right now we're leaning towards Vegas but are open.

We went to Mexico and stayed outside Cancun.

We had so much fun that every morning I ran down to the front desk to extend our stay until we maxed out the credit cards.

The biggest thing was we went dead off season, the first two weeks in December.

We did the same thing - Mexico, south of Cancun. Fell in love with the area and return every year since then.

French-speaking Canada. Good food and wine, no exhausting travel.

We went to New Orleans - while not a completely budget honeymoon, it didn't break the bank either.

We also went to Mexico. Stayed at a small AI in Cozumel. We loved it.

We went to a local TA and told her what we were looking for: Beach, AI and cheap. She directed us to Cozumel. We purchased a Fun Jet vacation package. We've since been back to that area 3 other times and plan on going again in the future.

We've also been to Las Vegas several times. It's a toss up for us between the two.

Both the Mexican Riviera and French Canada are great options. Realize October is hurricane season in Mexico however. If you want a fun city with lots of great dining and nightlife, Montreal is hard to beat.

Hot Springs, Arkansas!
We had a blast at the horse races at Oaklawn Park, we got massages and baths at historic Bathhouse Row, and we did a lot of antique shopping in the nearby area. We got married in the fall, so the fall foliage was gorgeous, too.

Northern California has great weather in October, and you do do San Francisco and the northern Coast on a budget by using Priceline, booking the good reasonably priced hotels early, etc.

We got married in the month of October and spent our honeymoon in Vermont. Gorgeous foliage (if early in month), great hikes, yummy restaurants, and lovely and romantic inns.

We sailed on a windjammer cruise out of the Bahamas. Don't know what the prices is nowadays, but they were inexpensive compared to other cruises at the time. We stayed the weekend in Nassau before boarding.

Aaahhh, take me back English lanes! The honeymoon was in London. (I was with the USAF in England at the time.)

It was September. In the early 1960s. And the one thing that comes to mind was a son et luminere presentation of the Tower of London. We were on a boat, in the Thames, on a damp, foggy evening. The lights going on and off, in and around the Tower, while the narration was going on.... Surreal.

Tight budget, hah! I counted my new tape recorder as part of my $200 in assets I had to have before the Air Force would let me get married....

The times, they have changed....

It also depends on how "budget" you want to go when you say a budget honeymoon.

Aruba! October is hurricane season in the Caribbean, so airfare was under $200 (seriously) and the Radisson was having a sale. Seven days on the beach and no debt when we got home Can't beat it!

We went to Paradise Island in the Bahamas. The place we stayed at was Merv Griffin's Paradise Island Hotel and Casino. It is now the Atlantis. Back then in 1988, it was 2200 for the week including airfares and breakfast and dinner daily. Times have changed in just a few years.... Good luck! Vegas could be fun!

We drove fifty miles to a cabin by a lake. We had the only things you need for a wonderful honeymoon: each other, privacy, and no distractions.
