Please don't envey, just work as hard as we did, love your job and you will travel on many trips a year. Your time will come

I cashed in 60,000 advantage mile and then added $195.00 for each ticket to Paris. Our budget is small and we saved for it. You can plan and save like the rest of us. It doesn't have to cost a firtune and doesn't have to totally on credit. So next time you make the statement to the contrary, think again. I can be done.

Much like a previous poster, we spent most of the thirty years we've been married on very limited, inexpensive, short vacations. Now, in retirement, we are traveling to places I've wanted to visit for years. We have Puerto Rico in Nov. and Australia and New Zealand from the end of Dec. through Jan. Then in May, we have a week and a half in the UK. I should add that, while spending those earlier years traveling with assorted team sports with my kids, we accrued quite a few Marriott points, and that is how we went to Hawaii for free [first class air and a week and a half hotel]. Also, one week of Australia and airfare [bus. class] to get there is free with Marriott points. With how many families today travel with their kids who are on competitive travel teams in assorted sports, there should be a lot of people who can accumulate points, so that when they have the time and money to travel, they have more options, thanks to the many frequent stay plans hotels have. These are free to join and can really provide wonderful perks down the line!
