Wow Kal -- Congratulations on your upcoming Thanksgiving wedding anniversary! In this day and age of throw-away relationships, I wish you would share with us some of your ideas for keeping marriage fresh and loving for 190 years! We should all be so lucky.

Poison on Saturday am: hot black coffee in my favorite new mug purchased in NYC last month~16 oz with a hand drawn snake on the front.

We will travel, as we always do, to Napa for dinner with extended family at S&BIL's. As we always do, we'll listen to "Alice's Restaurant" on the radio while driving North. I get off easy this year and have only to cooked the traditionally 4 onion casserole and bring wine for the masses. (Payback is my full on cooking of everything for Hannukah).

Friday we head over to Yountville to gather with The Kals(in their blushing anniversary mode) and other Fodorites for the annual GTG.

Welcome back, Statia.

Last night was iced tea; right now it's water. I haven't even made any coffee yet!

We're staying home for Thanksgiving because my oldest dd and her wonderful husband are coming from Missouri! They'll actually be traveling back on Thanksgiving Day so they can be at work the day after, so we'll have an early celebration.

Headed to our fav Italian restaurant for dinner w/ friends tonight, so something red from Italy.

Traditional Thanksgiving dinner 10 mins away at mom & dad's w/ sis and family. Love this day. We also celebrate my birthday which sometimes falls on Thanksgiving... like Kal & Mrs Kals anniversary! It's great fun and good that we all enjoy being with each other.

Happy Anniversary to the Kals!!

Staying home and it's going to be quiet. I'm going to spend the weekend getting down the Christmas decorations, and baking cookies. I'm leaving for Europe rught after Christmas, so with all the holiday doings I'm going to try to get my clothes sorted out too so I'm ready to go. I'm going to be gone New Years so my SO will be home along until his daughter and grand daughter arrive from Oaklahoma the week after Christmas, so I have to be sure everything is set up for them. I'm glad he'll have the company but hopefully he'll have all the Christmas stuff all packed up and put away by the time I get home from my trip. I'd love to attend the Yountville GTG but I just don't have the time and I also, living in Reno, HATE driving over the mountain any time from November through April. You just never know and the whole "chain thing" just doesn't do it for me anymore. Hope you guys have fun, sounds like you always do, and maybe another year that isn't so hectic for me, I might fly down and either rent a car or have my brother and SIL attend with me.

Saturday afternoon poison- a sip of my son's Mountain Dew to wash down the crazy good fresh handcut fries from Penn Station Sub Shop. I don't even eat fries...but the grease...the salt...they were screaming, "Eat Me!" and I did.

Headed to AZ for Thanksgiving. Right now I'm researching paintball fields in the Phoenix area so my boys can get their fix while we're out there.

First cup of hot Lady Grey tea of the season, but will be allowed to have a 1/2 tsp. of DH's Barolo at dinner tonight (Wife-of Function). It's probably better that I don't have that enzyme to process the alcohol, or I'd be a tippler for sure.

Ping-pong travel for T'giving: Sarasota until Friday to have T'g dinner with Mom, then bounce to Baltimore for in-law activities around DH's and his sister's b'days. At least I get to drive home (avoiding both airports and I-95) on Sunday.

Still full from dinner out last night with DH...but I am sipping on a diet Dr. Pepper.
We are flying into Nashville on Thanksgiving day, will try to find a restaurant that will take 5 tired travelers (3 of those are 4 and under), so by the time we arrive I will "need" some sort of poison!
Friday morning we will drive into Knoxville to spend 3 days with our friends, then will drive back to Nashville to fly home late Sunday night.

One of my faves - Alamos Malbec. Not going anywhere. Daughter having her tonsils out one week prior to Thanksgiving. Supposedly a week to 10 day recovery period....

With all the talk of Proseco lately, I had to try some. Guess Martini and Rossi must not be a good brand, because I don't really care for it! Prefer my cheap red wine too, CAPH52.

Maybe someone (LoveItaly or Statia?) will suggest a particular brand or two!

Also tried to find Limoncello, but no luck at either of the wine shops I tried. Do ABC stores carry it? (Is that a stupid question?).

We'll be having Thanksgiving here at home. The sons and their wives, and maybe their parents/siblings as well, not sure as yet. Oh yeah, and at least one grandma!

I'm interested in trying Turducken for Thanksgiving...anyone tried it before?

Belle, my favorite Prosecco ( don't know the brand) is at a nearby restaurant.. I have it with small plates while sitting outside with the Yankee and Pup..I think much of my enjoyment of the drink ( I get headaches from champagne) is the entire experience, the place and the company
Try a Lillet Blanc..that is a perfect apperitif

Belle, I don't know anything about Turducken other that what I've seen on the Food Network.

But a note about the Limoncello...I ordered it as an after dinner drink a couple of months ago. The waiter warned me that it's quite strong. He said most people don't seem to know that it's basically grain alcohol. And he was right, it *is* strong! But then, other than the occaisional margarita or cup of hot cider with spiced rum, I'm not a hard liquor drinker. I pretty much stick with wine and beer. I had expected the Limoncello to be sort of like amareto, Kalua (I suspect I misspelled both of those!) or Bailey's. But it definitely tasted stronger.

No poison this entire last weekend. Too busy shopping, running, driving etc. for Mom & Dad/ shut-ins and birthday presents.

But I did get to White Fence Farm in Romeoville/Bolingbrook with the neighbors last night. Great time, I felt like I was warped back into the '50's-'70's era.

No traveling for Thanksgiving Day as everybody comes to me. This is the first year, actually that not one person is flying from a distant college, I believe, so far anyway. All have graduated or are still at home. I just have a feeling that this may be the last one with both parents in semi-upright positions as well. Also my brother is home and not going back to Iraq. We have a lot to be thankful for, that's for sure. It's been quite a year.

I not yet into the prep mode, but will start possibly next week. I think I am going with the two turkey approach this year.

The day after Thanksgiving I am leaving for MI for 4 days. That will give me an opportunity for some great bonfires and some very peaceful days.

For me, an Oktoberfest beer, and for my wife a glass of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, a very nice Italian white wine. We are at the moment enjoying this with some homemade Natchitoches meat pies and crawfish etouffee. Sure do miss that Louisiana food, but since we are here in Florida we have to do our own. We're still recovering from having sat through the Florida Gators-Vanderbilt Commodores football game, which went double overtime before Florida won (thankfully).

Where for Thanksgiving? Well, it would have been "to Grandmother's house we go," but we are now the grandparents. No one's coming to us, so we'll go to a Thanksgiving brunch at our local club. Don't like being so far away from all the relatives, but right now they are the ones in trouble because our relatives (hers and mine) all live in southeaster Louisiana, where there's not a lot to celebrate.

Cheers to all Fodorites for a good T/giving.

Guess I'd better start proofreading. My fingers were moving too fast and I missed the "n" in "southeastern."
