High 80s, low 90s in Renton, Washington. No rain expected for another ten days or so...and we haven't had rain in forever.

Razzle, how do you make wine out of raisins? Do you call it resin wine?

What can I say - we still have it easy in San Francisco compare to all of you. Hot, but not as bad as you describe. Sorry, no blackouts, no storms, and no joggers

It should cool down by Thursday.

82F and humid (~56% humidity is humid for us!) in Santa Monica, CA (where my office is). 89F and humid at home in Long Beach.

A veritable cold snap compared to Saturday when it was 104F in Long Beach. And the power cut out twice. And we had thermal thunderstorms.

72F/22C officially, but feels cooler; overcast with recent showers. Looks like more rain shortly.

111 degrees in the California desert, but still 10 degrees cooler than Palm Springs, so can't complain. It's really not much warmer than usual, but I could certainly do without this humidity!

Although our daytime temps are about average for this time of year, our nights are not cooling off as much as usual. We went for a walk last night at 10:30 and it was still 94.

But the nearby fires are almost out and we can finally sleep at night without the constant smell of smoke coming in through the vents. We're under a flash flood watch this afternoon, but haven't seen a drop of rain all day.

HUGE storm rolled in and out and now it's less than 80's. Actually a bit chilly out there right now!

'mo,
I thought for sure you'd say "chili today-hot tamale".

R5,
It was so hot up here I actually had to drink a white wine with dinner!

Kal,
In reality Carnitas yesterday, Curry today, and Chiles en Nogada tomorrow.
I routinely put reds in the freezer for 20-30 min before serving in the Dallas summers.

Bueno mi amigo!
I actually chilled a Ravenswood Zin Saturday.

This is PUCKER weather! Watermelon pucker, that Effen vodka, splash of soda or tonic water over shaved/crushed ice.

Kal, YOU can call me a hot tamale. I'm a bit embarrassed to do so.

Step away from the Cakebread. It doesn't deserve that kind of treatment.

Try this - lemonade, citron vodka and a splash of amaretto "to smooth it off". The perfect hot weather refresher.

We were finally in a thunderstorm here yesterday...it's been a horrible drought(along with the heat) here, drying up the pond behind the house and several large trees in the area are dying or dead.

Coming home from the movie yesterday we saw lightning peel out of the sky, strike an oak tree right next to the street, with a ball of fire at it's base sending dirt flying everywhere!

At the same time, every pole on the the black metal fence in the backyard of the house across the street momentarily lit up like a Christmas tree!
Alittle too close for comfort, but I'm glad of the 9/10" rain we got this weekend! Got another trace amount today!

I'm in CA (south San Jose), which is not in the desert and we cooled down to 104F today from 108F yesterday. The mall I was in to stay cool, was evacuated at 106F due to a small fire. I had to wait 15 mins in the heat for a bus. Anyway, our inland valleys and deserts are worse than here.

starssy,
Actually I had an old bottle of Clos du Bois in the fridge. I'd NEVER talk bad about The Cake or The Romie!

I refuse to drink anything with Amaretto in it because amaretto Collins is my Boneheaded BIL's fave drink.

Supposed to be up to 88 degrees in Bellevue WA today. The thermostat on the main floor of our house is registering 86 right now and our bedrooms are upstairs....Most houses here don't have ac.

Saw "An Inconvenient Truth," this weekend to beat the heat on a record breaking high day in Seattle (104 degrees in Bellevue). It's worth seeing. Even my 16 year old, very teen son said it was good! And my very critical hubby! It's an eye openner about global warming.

Nearly everyone in the US drinks reds too warm and whites too cold.

Honestly, Kal, this shouldn't be a tick, tick, tick issue. The movie is about scientific evidence, observable trends, and the future of our planet. What is actually happening is not political. What to do about it is, but that isn't the point of the movie.

People shouldn't criticize the film if they haven't seen it. Here's a website about the issues, related to the movie:
