97 degrees in far far western Nebraska with a grass fire burning a few miles out of town in our beautiful hills. So far over 1000 acres burned and no containment yet.

After 2 days of 105 in Sonoma County, CA
we can finally open the shades-95 is predicted for today.

It is not common for residences to have
AC here-typically we don't need it. Should it get a little warm, we plug in a fan or two for a few hours.

Since Friday, we've had 8 large fans
going 24/7 throughout the house.
The 3rd floor was proof that heat does indeed rise. Simply miserably hot. Cats get vvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeerrrryyyyy long when it's hot.

Mr R5 went to a local hardware store yesterday and noticed that they were completely out of fans-floor models-
everything. He spoke to a very sad
customer who said there were no fans
anywhere in the county as they had been to Lowes, Home Depot, Target, etc. and
there was nothing !

To think I felt sorry for us ! We were
double lucky not to have a power outtage
as many did around the Bay Area.

WHAT ?!?

I think I saw Kal jogging by....

Northwest Florida -- we are below average for rain. It is hot and humid (mid 90's.) Typical weather for July.

High 90's in Montana. There are new forest fires burning around the state.

Husband and I installed a ceiling fan in our bedroom yesterday. What a miserable job that included several trips into a well over 100 degree attic. Yuck.

63 with a warm breeze from the south, Kenai Peninsula.
C'mon up.. my husband says he'll make a mud pit on the back forty so we can finally have more than the verbal slugfests that I've come to enjoy, hee hee.
Seriously though, not even warm enough for sweet tea. J.

Inland North San Diego County this heat has been going on for about a month. Over the weekend it was between 106-112 depending what city you were in. Escondido was 112 on Sat and broke a record from 1900. I was at a luncheon bridal shower. She had planned for lunch on the deck, needless to say we moved inside where the AC was barely keeping up. Sunday a little cooler but over 100.

The worst thing is the humidity. Last night at 11pm in my city, it was still 80 degrees and 70% humidity. And I live in a house without AC. I have never sweat so much except when I lived in San Antonio!!

Linda~Since the crop may be raisins
we'll be hoarding the white wines, lol!
We had to move our wine cellar (closet)
down to the 1st floor because it was pushing 85 on the 2nd ! We laugh at all these ads urging Bay Area residents to set their thermostats at 78-we would have loved to be able to have our interior at 78 !
Kal~

Malesherbes~ aw, it's not so bad. Today, I have a t-shirt with a very light cotton sweater on.

paula1740~ my sister lived in Escondido for two years before moving to Houston. So her and I are pretty much at both extremes summer and winter. She does have a pool which still must be 90 in the water.
I tell her I'll take the winters and wood critters and she can have the humidity, snakes and alligators!
