What's the one "must do" when in Vagas

Hi all
Will be visiting LV early next year, what is the one must thing to do, whether it be eating in a fine restaurant to tackling the big shot......one must thing to do?

Cheers
Trevor

My husband and I went to LV for the first time in 2003. My must-do might be a little different from other people, but it's what we loved the most: Rent a convertible for the day and drive to the surrounding area (we went to Valley of Fire State Park -- amazing scenery!) This is probably not what most people would do, but it was wonderful for us. (If you go, take lots of water/snacks with you.)

My must-do is simple: GAMBLING!

Besides that, I love to pay a visit to the dolphins at the Mirage. Little Maverick has grown so much over the last two visits!

Get out again as quickly as possible!

Alternatively (ahem!), I agree on the Belaggio fountains. I loved it that people actually CLAPPED at the end! (Though it was well deserved).
Oh and check out the false sky in the Venetian (and see how long it takes you/others to spot it - I lost all track of time and *really* thought it was daylight, when it was 9:00pm or so!)
And I guess you should pull a few bandits (winnings here - 10c in Belaggio - (total hub and myself)$3.50 in Luxor.)
Above all, have fun - and wear comfy shoes!

#1 Gamble and watch the other gamblers around you. It is a smorgasboard for people watching.

#2 Get a picture of you and your party with an Elvis.

#3 Go up to the Voodoo Lounge for a drink at the top of the Rio and go outside to enjoy your drink on the deck and the view of Vegas at night. It is quite a site. The lights, the planes, the fresh air, the beautiful people. It is a WOW moment.

Just a few more "must dos" in Las Vegas.

When you're walking down the sidewalk and somebody snaps one of those "hooker" cards and hands it you, take it and say, "Oh good. I didn't know my sister was in town."

Walk through a casino and go up behind anyone who looks frustrated with their slot machine and say, "Oh, that's the machine I hit the jackpot on this morning."

Walk slowly past a long buffet line and say loudly to your partner, "isn't this the place the Hanson's got their food poisoning from?"

Stand in the middle of the mall at The Venetian and in a loud voice say, "See, this IS nicer than the real Venice."

Stand on the sidewalk in front of the Bellagio with a long pole and pretend to fish in the fountains. If people stop and look, tell them you caught a shark there last week.

Go to the Liberace museum dressed as Liberace. (sorry, this is only good for men)

Get a hot dog and a coke and walk up to the maitre'd at the finest restaurant you can find and ask if it would be OK to use one of their tables to enjoy your lunch.

Just returned from a long beach and Fifth Avenue walk. I think the sun fried my brain.

Good Patrick. I am not sure though that the Liberace thing would only work for men. I think it depends on the woman.

One must do is a challenge, much depends on the person/group. Vegas is a show town, life is a show there.

Go to a big show, any show will do if you have never been.

The one must do?

I'd say it should be spending your entire time there acting like a member of the Rat Pack or Vince Vaughan's character in Swingers. Become "Frank" for the weekend. Call every woman "baby". Order cocktails. Only refer to it as "Vegas Baby." Smoke. Stay up late. Toss $20's around like pocket change. Go to the craps table and yell things at the guy who just hit his 8th pass like "You're the man, baby!" or "This tip's for the stick man." Have conversations with strangers about things like "Can you believe that guy hit on 17 with a dealer showing a 6!"

I can be a staid, politically moderate, Wall Street Republican who hates idle chit-chat with strangers when I'm home. In Vegas, I'm Dino in his heyday.

I withdraw my suggestion and would like to pile on Ryan's suggestion. Outstanding point!

Push it to the edge, it IS Vegas Baby! What happens here stays here.....

Gambling, definitely, and I agree with Ryan. My favorite Vegas moments are gambling with these same characters, or being one myself. In fact, earlier this year I was playing blackjack with 3 little old ladies from Pittsburgh, who were getting kind of drunk and wild. Big fun! Also, if you are going to Vegas, dress the part. I like to wear this big, cheesy dice bracelet while there, and many women compliment me while gambling. (Some men, however, frown at me and say, "Um....You don't wear that at HOME, do you?") Of course not. I only wear it in Vegas, baby, Vegas!
