What to pack to Miami in January?

I'm going to South Beach in early January with a friend, and we're from the Midwest. There's 2 feet of snow where we're from, what should we pack and expect the weather to be like during this time in Miami?

I'm thinking pack what I'd wear here during summer, is that safe? Any suggestions on packing for Miami's night life? And what clubs would you recommend?

Your advice would help a girl in great need of packing...there's limited space in my suitcase. Thx!

I was in Miami in February a couple of years ago. It was mild, but not exactly warm. You may need a jacket when you go out in the evenings. Temps can drop to the low 50's.

Was in Miami with the family a few years ago. I wore shorts and T-shirt one day. A cold front came through during the night and all I had was a sweat suit and it wasn't enough, I froze. My advice is be prepared for anything between 30-90 degrees.

Agree w/ the above poster. Days can be nice and warm (or cool!) and nights can get a bit chilly, especially if youre eating at an outside restaurant. I always bring a light jacket at night if there's a breeze, it will feel cool.

For clubs, there are just too many to list, but there was an excellent Hosted Forum here at Fodors a couple of weeks ago, go to "Past Hosted Forums" and you'll see "Whats hot in Miami", there were MANY right on the mark recommendations for restaurants and clubs by the host.

Have fun and bring alot of $$!
