What to include in 1 week drive in Louisiana , besides N.O.?
Planning a 7 day trip to Louisiana in October or November, including 3 or 4 days in New Orleans (my seond visit). Where should I drive to for the remainder of my stay? Was thinking of driving to Baton Rouge and exploring "Cajun Country" en route. Primary interests for the drive are nice scenery and good food . Any suggestions?

Well, you can't exactly explore Cajun
country en route from NO to BTR, that is not where it is, or at least, not the
really historical part you are probably
looking for. I would suggest going
on past BTR on I-10 and basing yourself in Lafayette; from there you can easily tour around to little towns like Delcambre, Breaux Bridge, New Iberia, New Roads, Mamou, Ville Platte and Opelousas. That is harvest festival season in that area, do check with the LA Office of Tourism for a schedule; you'll be in prime position to enjoy some fascinating local color. Your other option would be to go to the Houma/Thibodeaux area, they are a little closer to NO, but not as active in terms of Cajun French culture. If you can arrange to go to Fred's Lounge in Mamou
on a Sunday afternoon, do it, it's a unique experience.
