If you're staying with your grandson's family...you might consider giving the parents a night off by checking into a hotel with your grandson. Rates in summer are way down on the weeknights...and I'm sure he'd love the pools at the MGM, the miniature penguins around the pool at the Flamingo, or on a budget just the pool at the Gold Coast or the Orleans followed by a string of bowling.

The section near MGM with M&M and Coca Cola World is fun to walk around. The atrium with birds at the Tropicana would be fun. The Desert Passage Shops at the Alladin, I think still has a rainstorm. Ditto with others on the Rainforest Cafe.

I suggest the Mandelay Bay shark reef, too. We spent lots more time than I thought we would, and it was mesmerizing.
