What to Do in Hartford Sept 18-19?

We must be in Hartford Sept 18-19 on business during the day, but our evenings are free. Any suggestions for entertainment or places to eat? Any concerts or other goings on while we're there? We are two 30-something happily married gals, glad to have a few days away from the kids and cooking! Thanks!

If you're interested in the theater, Hal Holbrook is starring Our Town in Hartford.

Are you staying downtown? Do you have a car?

Yes, and we have a car! Any restaurant recommendations? We'll probably be tired after a full day of work, and we want to avoid 'chain' restaurants.
Thanks!

You could try Max Downtown which is near the corner of Trumbull and Asylum Sts.

IMO, the BEST meal in Hartford is Peppercorns Grill. It is very nice without being stuffy and the food is amazing. It is right downtown on Main Street. I would describe it as Italian with a modern flare. Delicious.

If you feel like taking a drive to West Hartford, it has a beautiful and charming Center with lots of great restaurants and shopping. Grants is my favorite there. The Cow Parade is going on in West Hartford Center which is really cute. Here's a link to that: http://westhartford.cowparade.com/

If you're staying at the Marriott, I hear that they have a nice spa, so you might want to do that.
