What month in Vegas for a vacation that includes pool time?

Planning to go to Las Vegas in 2010. I want to go during a time of year that would be great for some pool (and sleep) time during the day. So, what month should I choose?

Looking for a great pool - with bar service - too. I've looked at lists in previous years and think these are perennial favorites -

Any recommendations?

May would be a great time to go, IMHO. One time I went in April and that also had decent pool time/weather, if I remember. Summer is so hot and the sun so penetrating, even with the max of sunscreens, that I can't stay outside in it, myself. May could be very hot too.

Do you want to be central strip and what kind of pool? One that is the spa type with cabanas and a bar that is accessible from the water (like a club and meeting place to be seen)-or one that is just a pool pool, like at Paris?

There are now many nice pools and so many Las Vegas hotel choices. If you want to be central strip, don't care much about the density of people in the walkways and restaurants, and don't care about size of the hotel etc. (don't mind being in one of the gigantic ones- don't require a smaller or boutique or less packed one)than the Flamingo has a nice pool. Also Flamingo's pool isn't like some of the newer "club" type pools where it's more a "scene" rather than swimming and resting in the sun etc. is.

Some of the new pools are so massive. Flamingo's has gardens and lots of separation and I found the swimming pool there the best part of the hotel. It's too congested and in the midst of bedlam 1/2 the time- for me- otherwise- outside of the pool areas.

I liked the Palms too. And what I loved about the Palms and the Rio's area (around the corner from the Strip but so doable to the Strip) was the restaurant and resting type of leisurely choices- they just seem so much better there- apart from just the specific pool. But there are lots of nice pools in Vegas to pick from.

Thanks, JJ5. I checked schedules and it looks like May will work.

I'd like waiter service. Would love a cabana, if possible. Prefer a pool that is not overrun with kids, or has a section that is more "grown-up" than kids. My plan is to relax/sleep to get ready for more adventures in the afternoon/evenings.

Thanks for the suggestions.

And also, if you possibly arrange it, and this is only my opinion, but because of having to go to Laughlin, NV about 10 times during the '90's and up until 2003- I have been through Vegas a lot- try to go DURING the week. The weekends have so many more mobs driving in. I hear it is not as crowded as it was, but for rest and just relaxing- cheek to jowl people, IMHO, are just not "helpling".

I hear the Japan and China desks have been closed at some of the hotels and that huge overseas visitors have been much less in the last 2 years. Hard Rock and some others have newer pools with lots of hype about them, now.

That's HELPING.

I didn't mean that the overseas visitors themselves were huge, but that they formerly came in in such huge groups and numbers and they needed separate desk entrances.

I looked over at the list that you presented and have stayed at Ceasars, Rio & Ventian. Be prepared to fork over big bucks for the cabanas - they can be very pricey in Vegas and often are reserved for the high rollers. May is a great month imo.

I personally like the Ventian. I think all Vegas pools at the larger hotels would include service. I agree go during the week. I was just commented to dh that we were due for Vegas. It has been a while since we have gone - when it gets closer let us know for good recommendations on where to eat... Vegas has some of the best food

I was going to say the same, about Sept., MomDD.

And my SO doesn't want to go back. But I am due in 2010 for Vegas with girlfriends.

Yes, cabanas are very, very pricy. I think they had a blog on Hard Rock's that said you needed to know someone to even get in the running too.

Okay then. I don't need a cabana. I'll save the $$$ for something else.

Wynn Las Vegas...pool is stunning and great service.
Rooms are stunning..this is a 5* hotel.
Encore the twin of the Wynn would be another great place.
New is everything..
Venetian rooms imo, are very tired..maybe the Palazzo.
sign up for the e-mail at the Wynn and get great deals.

I do agree that the rooms are getting a little tired at the Venetian...but there is just something about that place I love... must be whatever they pump into the airvents to make it smell *so good.

Hello starrs

Have you been here: www.cheapovegas.com

They've got a good strip map, plus lots of info on the various hotels, pools, and restaurants (some in a corny sort of way but helpful nonetheless).

We've had winning bids on Priceline for the Venetian several times. Last time was 2 years ago. Rooms are large suites, which I love rather than just a hotel room.

Now granted, I haven't stayed at the higher end places like Bellagio, so I can't comment on their pools. But for me, I'd look for a place with a pool that doesn't have the blaring music. While I'm trying to relax or read, that noise just gives me a headache.

I'd say springtime would be good. But as late as June, maybe not.

Have fun!

I just looked at the weather chart you posted. It shows an average high of 99 in June.

Many years ago, I remember being there in mid-June with my daughter's soccer team for a tournament. The girls (12 years old then) had all hoped to go to the water park (don't even know if it's still there), but it was too cold.

Go figure.

We were in May, it was hot. Perfect pool weather! I think all pools would have bar service - and some even swim-up bars.

I know Bellagio would not allow children to stay there, so maybe this will work for you.

Bellagio WILL allow children to stay there. Even Wynn allows children. There once was a time when Bellagio banned strollers (except for guests), but that was long ago. Wynn is the sole holdout in that area.

I am here at the Bellagio right now, starrs, and it is wonderful. The rooms are perfectly lovely and their public spaces are gorgeous. The conservatory has their autumnal display right now for 3 more days before they switch to Christmas. I think late September or late April/early May would suit me but then I don't take heat very well.
