GoT, I understand about sucking the life out of you. I don't like chowhound and never use it. So I guess I definitely can't "be" a chowhound.

Speaking of searching for ingredients, I also really love to go grocery shopping when we travel- not just the outdoor markets but also just regular grocery stores, to see what local products are available and bring them home. Often, the first thing I want to do when we arrive somewere is go to the grocery store. Once I came back from San Antonio w/a small suitcase full of cans of La Costena pickled hot jalepeno carrots (can't get those in the northeast) and just last night I was lamenting that my Outerbanks brand spices are almost out (esp. the saltless lemon pepper).

emd and Got, I know what you mean also about chowhound sucking the life out of you. But there is hope! They recently re-vamped their website and it's MUCH easier to use...check it out!

I too love visiting the grocery stores wherever I travel. Especially outside the U.S. Seeing the grocery stores in the Caribbean really makes me appreciate what I have at home...
