What happened to all the Cindy threads???

Earlier this week, the infamous Cindy from the, "It's Hawaii Alone or not at all" thread, posted that her trip to Maui really wasn't wonderful and we were right about her boyfriend. I was going to post back and seems Fodor's deleted the WHOLE thread and not just the new one but the old threads of hers as well! From what I read in the new thread, the flaming wasn't as bad as other threads. YET, Fodor's deleted the whole thread and quickly too. Since when has Fodor's started deleting whole threads??? Usually, they only delete posts which are offensive and leave the whole thread alone. Not this time. I am wondering if "Cindy" called Fodor's hq or what to get this fete accomplished?? And, why aren't other equally nasty threads deleted??? Seems to me Fodor's if you start deleting nasty threads you have to delete them all and not just a select one because someone doesn't like what others say about them.

One of the reasons may be that they don't monitor as thoroughly as when they had a bigger staff. I do know that if you do lodge a valid complaint that they do respond. It helps to give them the"url" for the webpost so they don't have to go digging.

I am also surprised they chose to delete the whole thread when they usually only delete the posts that are bad. IMO, there are a lot more threads that are 10 times worse than the "Cindy" threads and should be deleted.

What I don't understand is why someone would post her personal problems here and expect everyone to sympathize?? Especially when this site is overrun with nasty, rude posters and trolls.

They take out a lot of threads.
I see from time to time someone says goodbye they have had enough of the bad posts.
If I leave the site for awhile and come back later, those are all gone.
They didn't like the burping bus passengers either.

She supposedly works for a big LA law firm. Maybe she threatened Fodor's with a lawsuit if they didn't delete the threads. If you ask me, I am glad she/he is gone. Definitely one brick short of a full load.

Apparently, they didn't like homeschooling post either. It's kinda frustrating when things are inconsistent. I'm sure someone complained that it wasn't travel-related, but no one got into nastiness on that thread. I mean look at how long were AJ, Ricky Martin, and Mariah were offending people. I don't mind deleted threads or posts as long as every post has to adhere to the rules.

The thong on Waikik thread is still going and that thread has some pretty raunch replies. Have to agree they are inconsistent with their deletions. Seems to me, if they delete one they need to delete all non-travel related threads.

Fodor's likes the threads that generate alot of posts because they base their ad rates on the number of hits this site takes. The more hits the more they charge. So Fodor's looks the other way when the political, trashy, goofy threads get lots of posts cause that means the site is getting lots of hits.

Ricky Martin and AJ are off in a Malibu beachhouse with Cindy and Gary Condit's daughter and Oaktown Traveler, burping and reading old issues of Town and Country, bragging baout their respective weddings, arguing about whether the mob controls tourism in Florida and whether shark attacks are really increasing or whether it's an aberration, and debating whether children should be allowed in expensive restaurants or on flights to Hawaii.....

And some posters criticize other posters. Why not let this one expire ASAP? Ciao

L-There are tons of threads where posters are criticizing other posters and are equally offensive such as the political threads, fat people threads, gays in Key West thread, children on planes or in restaurant threads, and then there is the classic thread such as Tong in Waikiki which has references to child porn---And, Fodor's has done nothing! NADA! ZIP! Not deleted one offensive or rude post let alone the whole thread. I and a few others have emailed them and nothing happened!! IF Fodor's is going to delete offensive threads they need to be consistent and not just delete them because someone works for a law firm and threatens them!

Was it a salad Tong in Waikiki or some other kind of Tong? I can not find the Tong thread. Was it deleted? Too offensive?

Yes, I'd certainly have to agree with what you say. I just wish Fodors posted an easy process one might follow in suggesting that threads be abolished. Ciao

I think most of you were entirely unfair to Cindy. She posted in the beginning because she wanted to know if she could/should go to Maui alone.

She posted again as an update on her trip. And to say, Maui would have been better without her boyfriend.

It is helpful to know where a single woman feels safe and comfortable on her own.
