OK, I have spent fair amount of time in and around the Denver area. I have been to RM State Park, driven through the ski slope areas, spent time in Boulder, toured Celestial Seasonings, toured the Coors plant, Buffaloe Bill's grave, went to Red Rocks and walked around, etc. I have one day (Saturday) this coming weekend and looling for suggestions for the day of Saturday. (Going to the Rockies game Friday night). Don't mind driving a ways if it is worth it. Thinking of going to "Garden of the Gods" or maybe driving up to Wyoming (Not sure what is there). Thanks for any suggestions........(Will spend Saturday night on Pearl St.

O.K., not really familiar with Denver, I am in Durango but I have had the chance to kick around a bit up there. Some really good shopping if malls or outlets turn you on and do the Garden of the Gods!

I have a couple of suggestions: you could stay in downtown Denver and walk around the 16th Street Mall. Or if you feel like taking a drive, it sounds like Co. Springs would be a good option for you. Garden of the Gods is there as well as Pikes Peak, Cave of the Winds, Seven Falls and lots of other things to do.

We really enjoyed Lakeside amusement park in Denver. It's a thoroughly old-fashioned Art Deco park with one of the smoothest old coasters I've ridden. You have to go at night to appreciate it. It's classic. Some posters here tried to discourage me from going there, saying it was in a bad area and nothing compared to the big amusement parks. But a member of American Coaster Enthusiasts clued me in to how special this park was. We would love to go again.

Nor sure if the amusement parks in the area are open for the season yet. Don't go to Wyoming - not an exciting drive. There is great hiking right outside of Boulder - and many, many bike paths around town. You can rent bikes at University Bikes at the corner of Pearl and 9th Street. Garden of the Gods is not worth the drive if you ask me - however if you are a "car touring" person vs. someone who wants to get out and experience the mountains first hand, then it might be okay. It's just a long drive (over 2 hours) from the Springs back to Boulder. If you like entertainment, try the new "Reef" bar in Boulder - one block off Pearl on Walnut & 13th. Dueling pianos and a lot of fun! New luxury Hotel in Boulder at Walnut and 9th called the St Julien has an excellent spa if you need a massage after your outdoor excursions or long day in the car! Call ahead, tho - 720-406-9696. They book up fast! Have fun in Colorado!

I suggest you stick close to Boulder, too. Definitely nothing to see going into Wyoming just for the day.
Have you been to Chatauqua Park in south Boulder? It's a beautiful place to hike and there's a nice restaurant there and a music venue (not sure if it will be open when you're here). It's actually where Mo Siegel first collected herbs for his new tea company.
I think hanging close to the Flatirons will be as pretty as anywhere. From Chatauqua you can drive up Flagstaff and see a beautiful panorama of the mountains, hike there, too. (Skip the Flagstaff Restaurant there-- terribly overpriced IMHO.)
You could drive into Boulder Canyon, have a beer or dinner at the historic Red Lion Inn.
Or you could drive to Eldorado Canyon, a bit further south than Chatauqua. It's a beautiful canyon and lots of rock climbers to watch, if the weather is good. Also a great place to hike. A public pool is there, too.
Or check out goings on at CU.
Or have a meal at the Teahouse in Boulder. It's unique and quite good.

GOTG is a great idea but will be a two-hour drive from Boulder. There's plenty else to do while you're in "The Springs", it just depends on whether or not you wish to spend four hours driving "to and from" on Saturday.

Don't know what your budget or interests are but have you ever been on a balloon ride? My girlfriend took me on one in Boulder and it was truly a great way to "see" the area. They depart around 6:30 am (early, I know) and you'd be done by 8am with a full day to do other stuff--not to mention one helluva memory of Boulder.

If you decide on going to Colorado Springs and need suggestions on what to do, I'd be happy to oblige.

and the history of the Black Cowboys.
