Though I mean Dear Husband when I use it our fodors friend, Kal, once commented that it could be the not so nice version of Richard Cranium. Of course my kids love this and it sounds better than the alternate meaning of DH.

It makes me crazy. I'd rather just type out husband.

At first, I thought it stood for Dead Husband! quot;> Since that didn't make sense, I had to look it up too!

My sister types is so much that for the longest time I thought it meant "damn husband"....cuz that is, after all, what she calls him to his face.

According to the internet acronyms dictionary I look at for these abbreviations I don't now, there are a number of options:

Dear Husband
Dick Head
Dumb Hubby
Dear Hubby
Deaf Hubby

Given these cover both ends of the complimenary scale, it's often best avoided. Why don't people just type husband?

It looks odd when people write things like "...then DH checked the guidebook..." or whatever, when all they mean is husband and has nothing to do with being dear.

I'm with you, Dave.

This is probably how the fall of the Roman Empire started. That and emoticons.

After reading this post, I think the best bet is that the H is usually always "husband" but the D has to be read in context to figure out what the poster's intent is!

This is too funny In my case it is "Da Husband"...like "Da Bronx", which by the way, is where the husband was born and raised. But he can be a dear or a darlin every now and again!
