What Do You Bring Home Or Have Someone Bring..

from other states? What impressed you enough that you just have to bring some home, or order it after you get back?

With me, it's pralines from Savannah, taffy from Charleston, taro chips from Hawaii, sourdough bread from San Fran, and I used to have friends bring Kellers Butter and Red Rose Tea to me from Pennsylvania ... until I could get the tea here in Raleigh.

I love to get the olive spread for muffalettas from NO. I also found the best hot pepper jelly in Oquossoc, ME of all places. I still dream about that jelly. I also love some things that don't travel well, like fried clams. My friend who lives in FL always asks us to bring AH-SO sauce and Friends Baked Beans when we come. I suspect that people can get just about everything just about everywhere nowadays. Kind of sad when we become so homogenized.

I forgot the Jersey White corn on the cob that we had while camping in PA one year. It looked totally anemic and turned the best corn that I ever ate.

The only thing I can think of is wine -- from California, Germany, Italy, France. (Not if I can buy it at home though).
I am from WI, and people always want us to bring fresh cheese curds and/or REAL bratwurst.

Tim_and_Liz, are there places in Wisconsin that ship those cheese curds? A Canadian friend raved about melting cheese curds on the "poutine" back home, and said we had nothing like that here, so we couldn't make real poutine. I've never had the dish, but it sounds yummy!

Hmm. . . I haven't heard about melting them on the poutine. But one thing I do know: the only thing better than fresh cheese curds is melted or fried fresh cheese curds!

Here is one site, I don't know if it's worth the shipping though!

Tim_and_Liz, that is a great website! The recipes, all of them, sound wonderful, and I WILL order some of the curds after warm weather, and make that poutine. Now that my friend has raved about it, I have to make it and I want to do it right. Thanks; I've put it in my favorites!

Bonniebroad,
Pralines from Savannah was the first thing I thought of when I read the post! Vidalia Onion Relish from S. GA, Chow Chow from the Dillard House from N. GA, salmon from the Pacific NW, maple syrup from the NE, honey from lots of different places, silver jewelry from NM, cactus flower jelly from AZ, and lavender from France. Thought about buying soaps there but decided to choose a lighter option. Then I found Provencal soaps at TJ Maxx when I got home!

Do you know where I can buy Monrovian paper stars for the holidays in NC?

Knock off watches/bags from Canal St. in NYC. Coffee from Hawaii and Central America. Native American jewelry from AZ & NM. Seashells from FL.

I live in Buffalo, NY so people always ask me for Frank's Hot Sauce, La Nova Chicken Wings, Rosie's Loganberry and Kimmelweck Rolls.
