What can you tell me about Jensen Beach & Hutchinson Island?
This has been chosen as the destination of our girls' trip this spring. It looks like a pretty quiet area, which is fine with us. We're mostly looking for R&R and to catch-up with each other's lives.
I'd appreciate any information about restaurants, activities, etc.

We have been several times to
Hutchinson Island, and its a very
quiet and nice beach, for R. & R.
They have some nice and informal
restaurants, and its not the
typical Florida beachtown, NO
Burger Kings, and NO Mac Donalds.
etc... so its a healthy change.
You will like it if you are going
to be on the quiet side.

Across the causeway - going to the mainland- turn right and an old Florida restaurant on the water is Conchy Joe's.
On the beach side at th other end of the causeway - in the dunes - is an open air breakfast & lunch place on the public beach. Surprisingly good food.
We always stay at the Courtyard by Marriott, wonderful place.
Enjoy!

The Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center is on or quite near Hutchinson Island. Quite nifty--you can even pet a ray if you like!
I've got several pictures in the 2nd FL trip album at http://picasaweb.google.com/bookhall . They've also apparently had a lot of donations this past year and have some pretty strong expansion plans....

The beaches are really great.. good for taking long walks.
If you go across the bridge at the south end of the island, there are some nice shops on the right side, after you cross the first bridge, but before the second bridge at Sewell's Point.
Also, be sure to go into downtown Stuart to see the shops there.
It's a great little town to wander around and there are some restaurants there. Go along Flagler and also SW Osceola.
