Paige, I have never grilled lobster, but if it has been steamed, I would think a minute on a hot oiled grill just for color and flavor....but who knows, I am not a great chef, just a great food lover. We still have not gone out to buy our dinner yet... I am afraid it is starting to look like a PIZZA night , cause all the good restaurants are probably going to be packed LOL!!!!

Rebalancing my portfolio, taking my first (small) IRA distribution (@ the 15% marginal tax rate), making a contribution to the American Red Cross's International Response Fund, dinner party with SO's very old friends, great wine (had the '83 Jordan Alexander Cab last PM), and college football - Go Navy!!!
Have a healthly and prosperous 2005.

When you're a member of a community, whether Fodorville or anywhere else, it's nice and friendly to share your plans and activities for an event, such as NYE. We share because we care about each other.

Tonight we'll go to a friend's place in Morristown to celebrate with about 15 others & hopefully take in some fireworks too! Looking forward to a fun time!

Happy 2005 Everyone! Trish

for paige:
Split a cooked lobster in half lengthwise. Crack the claws . Remove and discard the vein running down the tail and the small sac located behind the eyes. Brush the lobster with melted butter or basting sauce to keep the meat moist and tender. Place directly on the grill, shell side down, for 2-3 minutes, or just until the lobster is heated through. Be careful not to overcook.
P_M funny post. Hyacinth, get with the program, though I'm amused that a few here who put down all the non travel threads on the Europe board are always the first here.

machin, thanks for those lobster grilling instructions!
I think that might be our dinner instead of going out to some crowded noisy restaurant. When we lived in NY, we would go out for Chinese
Here in Florida, Lobster grilled sounds appropriate~
Happy New Year to My FodorFriends!

My DH is always on call on NYE. So no going out for us. Instead a few years ago we started the tradition of renting the entire season of a tv show and watching it --the whole thing over NYE and NYD, in between peeking at football scores. This year we missed almost all of the show 24, so we're starting our 24 marathon in about 20 minutes!

Gotta make the most of the situatio! Hopefully he won't get called in...

Judyrem - I spoke with my mum who lives in Suffolk, England earlier today. It is lovely to hear her voice and she is feeling much better after a battle with bronchitis.

This evening we have been to see the Aviator. We found the film a bit long and slow going in the middle but all in all worth seeing. Enjoyed a nice meal out and now quietly at home listening to music and waiting for the New Year. We choose this quiet way of celebrating after the busy Christmas holiday.

Peace and best wishes for a healthy and contented New Year.

Sandy

For Hyacinth Bucket:
I shall be the first to confess I am NOT at a friends playing Texas Holdem' and drinking adult beverages!
My baby has an ear infection... too sick to leave home with a sitter and too sick to take to the party. (Yes, of course he was invited! I sent my DH to the party without me. He'll be home before midnight so we can ring in the new year together. My 5 and 3 year olds are having a hard time understanding this "New Year's thing" so they keep saying "Happy New Year!" every 10 minutes or so. They've been keeping this up since 2:00 PM... hope they forget about it in the moring! Cheers!
