Here's another lifelong Bostonian who's never been on the Liberty Trail or to the Constitution which is particularly shameful as my Granddad worked at the shipyard and on the reconstruction of the Constitution in the 1940s or 50s. But all is not lost. This Mother's Day we will be taking the train into Boston and heading for the Constitution.

As an aside, last Mother's Day I was one of the 300,000 who walked on the Zakim Bridge. Very happy I didn't let that opportunity go by.

Not ashamed, but I've lived in the Seattle area since 1986 and I've been to the Space Needle once and that was when I was 10. I've never been to Pike Place Market, EMP, Woodland Park Zoo, Mount Rainier, the Olympic Peninsula, or any of the islands. I've also never taken a ferry ride. I've been in a Starbucks exactly twice and both times were to get hot cocoa.

Also, since I live in the 'burbs, I have no idea where most of the neighborhoods in Seattle are located.

Oh well.

I consider myself a traveler, Tanzania, Russia, Zanzibar, Corsica, Europe, Central America etc.., yet I have never been to, and will probably never go to - Las Vegas or Hawaii. No particular reasons.

I highly recommend an occasional "Vacation at home"

We've done this a few times when we felt a need for a vacation, but didn't have enough money for the real deal. Eat out every meal, do day trips to all the local attractions, really enjoy a different view of your area.

I have lived in NYC more than half my life (the other half just outside the city) and never went to Ellis Island, Liberty Island, or to the top of the Empire State Building until last year. I've never been inside the Statue of Liberty. I've also never been to the NY Stock Exchange, inside the UN, the opera or on a Circle Line boat. I've never taken a carriage ride in Central Park. I'm not ashamed, though, about any of these except for the opera - I can't believe I haven't gone yet. Everything else I just have no desire to do, and doubt I ever will.

I've lived in CA all my life and just went to Yosemite a couple years ago. My mom's never been. In Santa Cruz there is a famous place called the Mystery Spot and although I grew up in SC, I've never been there. Until last year, my husband had never been on a cable car or to Lombard Street in SF.

When I worked at a hotel in Santa Monica, I gave tourists directions to Universal Studios so many times I couldn't count. I told them what a wonderful place it was to visit. However, I had never been there myself.

Originally from Harrisburg, PA and have never been to Pittsburgh or seen any sporting event in Philly. Or (gasp) had a Philly cheesesteak in Philly - even though I've been there lots of times.

Live in NC now and have never been to NC beaches even though I keep hearing how nice they are. Must try them sometime.

I grew up in the NYC area and, despite having lived the first 18 years of my life there, never went up in the Statue of Liberty. In fact, I still haven't been, although I have been up in the Empire State and seen Ellis Island, the Museum of Natural History and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I still have not taken the Circle Line cruise though.

When I was 16 a pen pal from France came to visit and we went up in the Empire State because that was what she wanted to do. She couldn't understand why I was not interested. She lived in Paris. I asked her, "When was the last time you went up in the Eiffel Tower?" Well, you know the answer: She had never been. I wonder if she ever went.

It is the same all over. The local attractions we can see anytime, so there is no rush and we don't go.

I have lived in the DC area for over 30 years and have pretty much seen every thing here except for a few old houses that are way on down the list of tourist attractions. I also have not been to the new Spy Museum. In DC there will also be opening a DC City Museum in a few days. The problem with DC is that it is too hard to keep up with all the new things.

For the record, I have not been to the Met, but I have been to the Washington Opera (added because so many of you have mentioned opera and not because I am an opera snob).

I moved to NoCal in '62 and never wanted to go to Napa/Sonoma Valleys because only "those types of people go there".
I waited until about 7-8 yrs ago for my first real trip there.
Now I are one! ;-)

May spend time this year getting back to the very nearby Gold Country, too.

Have lived in Oregon almost all my life but have never seen Crater Lake except from the air. And even though St. Helen's is in Washington, it's only 50 miles from where I live; never been there either.

Have also been a US citizen all my life, but have visited more countries than states.

I like elberko's "Vacation at home." Even if you have the money, I think it's a great idea to enjoy what's all around you!

I have lived in CA almost all of my 36 years, and I have never been to Yosemite in memory (I was taken as a small child, but I don't remember). It is only 1/2 day drive away, and I keep maning to go!

JCor, I've been getting heat from certain Fodorites to try and maybe put together a Fodor's GTG in The Valleys, sooooooo.

Prob. have to wait until Mrs Kal runs her marathon in San Diego on 6-1.
She has the organizational skills in this family. She's so good I actaully think I wear the pants! ;-)

Maybe wine tasting at Groezingers and then dinner on Hurley's patio in Yountville?

B'bum-I' ashamed to admit I've been up to Crater Lake 3x and STILL haven't seen it!
Snowed in once and all clouded in the other times.
I was flying back from BC one day.
I was sitting on an aisle seat, 3 from the window, when the pilot announced that those on my side of the plane will be getting an excellent view of Crater Lake!

As soon as we started to come upon it, the 2 people sitting between me and the window opened up the newspapers and I saw zippo.
Call me Mr Destiny!

I've lived in the Toronto area all my life. Four years ago, a friend from New Zealand came to visit us, and it was only then, that I finally went up to the top of the CN Tower. Also, went on the Maid of the Mist for the first time at Niagara Falls. I wondered why I had waited all those years to do these things.

I've lived in San Francisco every day that Beach Blanket Babylon has been playing, yet I have never seen it. My in-laws gave us tickets one year, but my husband absolutely refused to go. I have no idea why and I don't think that he does either. We gave the tickets to his sister. We never asked if she enjoyed it. We are avid theater goers, so that's not the reason. I'm sure that many of our friends have probably seen it, but no one has every mentioned it.
