Westin Maui
I am trying to plan a trip for my husband, myself (in our 30's), and my parents (their 40th anniv) to Oahu and Maui for May 2005. None of us have ever been. I am looking at the Hilton Hawaiian Village or the Outrigger Waikki on Oahu and both seem nice. My snag is on Maui. We want to stay in the Kaanapali area because we want to be nearer to things than in the Wailea area. I've looked at Hyatt Regency but didn't think there was much of a beach. I also looked at the Westin and saw in the fine print that there was an $18 resort fee on top of what we'd already pay. Is this common on HI? We've traveled alot and have never has to pay a resort fee. Lastly, the Sherton Maui seems like it has a nice beach.
We are snorkeling and beach people but we also like to go shopping and see the sites. I don't think picking a place on Oahu is a problem, Maui is my snag.
O yea, we're staying 3 to 4 nts on Oahu and 6 nts on Maui.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!!!

The Sheraton is "supposed" to be the nicest of the ones you are considering now. How bout Priceline??? You might save an absolute fortune if you aren't totally locked into this precise hotel or that.
We're also going to Maui but not till Sept 05. We HOPE to stay at the FS and the Hotel Hana but it all depends on what we can afford next year. That's a LONG way away, but we are saving hard for it. Never went so "luxe" before - not sure if it's worth it quite frankly, which is why we'd consider Priceline at some point if money is tight.
Good luck,
Steve

Thanks for the posts. I'm going with aavacations. We're getting a great deal for the Outrigger on Oahu for 5nts and Hyatt on Maui for 6 nts. All for under 2500 a person couldn't pass this up. It includes breakfast in Maui with ocv room.
Thanks Again!!!

Littlehouse-Would you mind sharing where you got this great deal? We are visiting Maui and Oahu next summer and had chosen the exact same hotels! Haven't done any intensive searches yet for deals. Thanks!

Summer04, I called aavacations because you can't make multi-city reservations on their site. The number is 1-800-321-2121 but you might want to check their web site to make sure that's the right number. They were very helpful and got us the best deal I've heard of. Good luck!!!
