West Yellowstone lodging?
Has anyone stayed at The Best Western Desert Inn or the ClubHouse Inn in West Yellowstone? The Clubhouse Inn used to be a Fairfield Inn, but has apparently had a recent upgrade. Rooms at the Holiday Inn are going for $35-40 more for our dates, so I was hoping one of these others would be clean and comfortable.

I stayed at the Fairfield Inn when it was still a Fairfield Inn. It was comfortable at the time. I returned for a second time.
Prices seem about the same.
I really wonder if it has been substantially upgraded because it was a very nice Fairfield Inn. It had a 3-diamond rating about 4 years ago when I stayed there.
There is a small indoor pool.

We stayed at The Fairfield in October, 2004, and it was fine. Clean, good breakfast, typical Fairfield rooms....lots of snow!!!!!
I'm with brookwood on the upgrade...can't imagine how much could be done unless just new carpet, spreads, paint...that kind of stuff.

My wife just reminded me that the last time we were there, I made a comment to the manager about what a nice motel it was. The manager thanked me for the compliment and then gratuitously remarked that the Fairfield Inn franchise was expensive.
The same firm owns that motel building and the one next to it (or did). I have a hunch that demand for rooms in West Yellowstone is such that an independent can do as well as a franchise.
That motel is well placed on the south side of the shopping area and has plenty of parking.
