West Wind Sanibel Island NoSeeUms

Has anyone stayed at the West Wind Resort in Sanibel? We are going to be on Sanibel during Easter week and would appreciate any tips for 6 adults and 3 children. And, what prevents no-see-um bites?

Haven't stayed at the West Wind, but I know you'll enjoy Sanibel! It really has an "island" feel. Anyway, something that prevents no-see-um bites is Avon Skin So Soft. My wife orders it for the sole purpose of using as an insect repellent, and it works! Kinda has a perfume smell, but after getting eaten alive once or twice, most people don't mind. And it doesn't feel as "chemical-ish" as something like Off.

We are frequent travelers to sanibel! Beautiful place! We stay at Pointe santo, not at west wind, every place is nice, need bug spray or skin so soft at night, the bugs can drive you crazy, espically down on the beach have fun,it's my favorite place. we go every july for 2 weeks all the way from new england

We have stayed at the West Wind Inn a few years ago...had basic, clean, average motel rooms. It also has a nice patio bar area above the pool area, and a restaurant on property. It's a good central location, beach-wise. We enjoyed our stay there. It's not a luxury resort with a lot of amenities, but certainly a quiet, relaxing spot, and you probably would be exploring the area for different restaurants, etc. Just a note - a lot of the restaurants offer an early-bird discount of meals if seated before a certain time. Have fun!

Hi ! We have been going to sanibel over 25 yrs. In those early years stayed at West Wind Inn and liked it. It is a nice, but motel type units - efficiencies. Then we discovered the condos cost the same, but we got 2 BR units and some very lovely. We have rented through Priscilla Murphy agency, but Sanibel has many other rental agencies. We recommend getting a condo unit, but they rent on weekly basis. West Wind used to rent daily, also.
Sanibel is a wonderful place. Enjoy your visit whereever you stay !
