My husband & I are thinking of exploring the Pacific Coast from San Fran to Seattle. Any suggestions and/or timelines? Thanks

Looks like you are new to this forum. We are more than happy to help after you have done some research and can ask specific questions. We also need more info like when you are traveling, how long is the trip, what is your budget for hotel rooms, what are your interests (outdoors, museums, etc).

Go to the search box at the top to get started. You can type in various things like "San Francisco" (you will 100's of threads) or "Driving SF to Seattle" or "Sights in Oregon". Once you have read through some of these, then come back and give us more to work with.

Time 1-2 weeks in June 2008. We very flexible so were hoping fellow travelers could help us determine a reasonable time. Any "must sees" would help us plan. Anything to avoid? General info would help me do the research.

I assume by "explore", you'll be driving?

The only way to "explore" the Pacific Coast from SF to Seattle is to drive. You will need at least four days, more if you plan to do side trips like to the Olympic Peninsula in Washington or along the Columbia Gorge between Washington and Oregon.

Are you thinking of a straight up and down trip or will you fly open-jaw?

Do you like scenery? or strenuous hiking? Walking Beaches? Museums? How long do you normally plan for the activities you enjoy? 1/2 day? One day?

What kind of living arrangement are you looking for? Do you want to rent a condo for a week and just drive to local spots? Or do you want a different hotel each night? Are you hostel people - because some of the best rustic lodgings are hostels in state parks?

What kind of food do you like? Shall we recommend expensive restaurants or nice, cozy cafes?
