Weekend Meeting up From East & West Coasts

College friends from Southern California and from Philadelphia are wanting to meet for a 2 or 3 night stay in a sunny location, without a rental car. We are seeking:

-nonstop flight (so probably a destination with an airport that serves as a "hub")
-sunshine
-something to do at night, like go to a fun restaurant, but not necessarily a lot of wild nightlife (that is acceptable, though!)
-we are traveling without spouses and kids
- we want to travel in mid June, this year

We are essentially wanting to catch up with each other by the pool while ordering drinks!

We're considering Houston, but it looks like a rental car is in order. I can't find direct flights to Austin. Any ideas are very very much appreciated!

Las Vegas. Won't need a car, all the hotels have pools, there's lots to do at all hours of the day and night.

I think trying to find something midway will be difficult. I agree Las Vegas is an option as is San Diego. There are relatively inexpensive fares to SAN from Phil.

Just remembered June gloom in San Diego.

What about Denver? Don't know about weather there though.

New Orleans?

Another idea would be a 3-day Bahamas cruise from Miami or FLL. I know it's not halfway, but there are non-stops into both airports from both Philly and LAX.

You might also consider Cancun or Cozumale. However, the cost of direct flight from Philadelphia on US Air is pretty high. If you could fly out of Newark, fares are much more reasonable.
