Weekend getaway from NYC (in Feb.)

Hi,
My friend and I would like to plan a February weekend getaway from NYC (somewhere upstate). No more than 2-3 hours driving. I stayed in the Catskills about 2 years ago and that was ok, but I'd like to try a different place. Any suggestions?
By the way, we are both in our mid-late 20's. Just looking to get away for some well-deserved rest and relaxtion.

Thanks for your help.

KT

I've gone to the Hamptons in Feb. More and more restaurants are open in the off-season. It's nice to take a walk along the beach, do some shopping, Montauk lighthouse, weather permitting, wineries, etc. Very relaxing.

Agree the Hamptons is a nice idea.

Heading north, Hudson, NY has lots of antique shops, Beacon, Ny has the DIA art museum. Here's some info about Dutchess County

Bucks County, Pa. can also be nice.

Hi,
Thanks for the responses. Hamptons does sound like a good idea. Are there any areas that offer outdoor activities (i.e sledding, horseback riding, ice skating, etc)?

Thanks,
Katie

There are places for skating and horseback riding.

In cold weather, the pond in East Hampton Village is used for skating. There is also a rink in East Hampton (but not in the village) at the Buckskill Tennis Club.

Here's a list of riding places

Sledding obviously depends on weather. If you hit a cold patch, they do ice sailing on Mecox Bay in Watermill which is great to watch.
