Don't overlook the Circulator bus, which serves Georgetown.
Indeed, the PL zone called "Georgetown/Foggy Bottom" does loop really far west. The zone detail map does include the neighborhood of the hotel. So, technically, they didn't mislead you BUT this is a lesson for future PL bidders to pay attention to those maps and to the hotel lists on sites like biddingfortravel; PL can be very creative when naming the zones. Apparently the hotel offers rooms on PL when it's not hosting a conference.

On second thought, the D6 bus seems to serve the area and can be picked up near 4 of the downtown Metro stations: http://www.wmata.com/bus/timetables/dc/d1-6.pdf
Have you checked with the trip planner at www.wmata.com? Or call the hotel; they must get questions about public transit all the time.

You could just try here if you wanted to skip all the shenanigans with Priceline.
http://www.virginiansuites.com/
It averages out to 125/night plus taxes for your dates (suite with kitchen), free parking, short walk to Rosslyn metro. In fact, you could walk to Georgetown from here in about 15 minutes. If you book right now it's only $89 plus tax (non-refundable though)
I'd be wary of using priceline or any other blind method where you can't pick the hotel. Anywhere that charges for parking or isn't walking distance/quick free shuttle to metro will pretty much erase any discount you can get, and could consume extra time getting to/from DC. Charged parking at hotel and metro combined will be $30/day or more (+fares). All this could just make looking for a "deal" almost a waste of time if it's a blind Priceline zone thing.
Anyway, up to you. Considering when you started the thread, you may well have already booked something.

$89 is not cheaper than using PL, since the latest reports show wins of $65 and $70 for 3.5-star hotels that are actually in the city, and $80 for the 4* Renaissance Mayflower. Anyway, the OP from Aug 2 has undoubtedly already booked, as has the poster who revived this thread earlier today.

Oh, I'm so sorry if I've said something that upsets you about your beloved Priceline. (your employer perhaps?) I think the point was that the price booking directly at the hotel was much cheaper than booking the hotel (not blind) at Priceline. Sorry if this fact irritates you as it seems to.

May well have, bzookaj (that's your name on Thorn Tree, correct?). But it really is none of your concern if I or anyone else wants to post a comment here after what you decide is an appropriate time.

Dear Anonymous,
Thank you for that helpful information on the Circulator bus. I've also found out that there is a University bus which apparently visitors can use, which leaves the campus
for downtown regularly, only not at weekends.Best wishes, Carrabella
