Wailea Marriott Construction

My family & I are going to Maui on June 29-July 6 & will be staying at the Marriott/Outrigger Wailea. Does anyone know if the construction is still going on NOW??? I really, really do not want to spend $285 for an oceanfront room & have to listen to construction! Anyone who's been recently.....can you give a report?

I'll be anxious to hear a response to this question. We're going in October and past posters have advised to stay away from the South side of the resort. You might call ahead and put in a request for something specific. I'd love to hear a trip report when you return. Thanks

I was there in mid-March and there was definitely construction at that time. It sounded like they were still working on excavation at that point, and I did not really see any new buildings rising from behind the barricades -- thus, I doubt they will be done in June/July. They seemed to be working about 8-4 every day but Sunday.

I would not want a room on the south side of the property. And if you plan to hang out at the kiddie pool, that also is right near the construction zone. Oceanfront rooms on the north side probably wouldn't get too much construction noise. I'd suggest calling the hotel to ask about status and request a room on the north side.

I believe they are building a new resort next to the Marriott- they were in the beginning stages in Feb.

But most of the Marriott is not effected (since the Marriott is HUGE!!)...it just isn't too pretty to look at as you walk by.

We just got back from Maui last week. We stayed at the Renaissance down the beach. We loved it there. A lot smaller and quieter and they helped you a lot. But to answer your question there is still a lot of onstruction going on next to the Marriott. I do not know how loud but there is still fences up and cranes and the like.
