Wailea in August - too hot?

I was thinking of staying in the Wailea area next August and know that this area is hotter and dryer than Kanapalli and others. Is Wailea too hot in August to get those cool sea breezes and comfortable temperatures that make Hawaii great?

it was perfect in aug. we were there this summer. i never broke a sweat. but im from houston, TX. it was mid 70's at night and in the 80's during the day. honestly the temperature won't be an issue. when we got back to houston in mid aug. it was 100+ and 108 one day. man did i miss hawaii.

Hi Dave, we were in Wailea in August of '93 and it was WAYYYY too hot. I think it would have been fine if we had a nice airconditioned room but we were staying in a condo that only had air conditioning in the master bedroom. So sleeping was misery (since we were not in the master bedroom). I think it's a personal preference but I would avoid August the next time we go.

Stayed in Wailea for 6 days in mid August this year. Weather was beautiful. A nice breeze and never too hot. We are from Alabama and used to very hot summers. We traveled much of Maui siteseeing and didn't notice Wailea being hotter than any other area.

Dave,

I live in the hot, humid Southeast, and I find Wailea too hot in August! You, of course, could luck out and be there when they have a mild summer, but unless you're use to Texas and Florida temperatures, I would go May through July, if you have the choice.
