Any opinions on the Outrigger sister chain, Ohana? Also...What is this E-Card? Thanks for any help...visiting Hawaii May 28-June4.

Ohana Collection is just the group of lower-priced hotels that they offer. Just a name change! Still Outrigger quality & value. Go to Entertainment.com to find out all about the book/card. You'd want the Hawaii edition. If you're spending a whole week on Oahu, $30 spent on the card will save you a bundle on that island! Best of luck!

But, we are going to HI also on the 28th returning June 5. From where are you all flying, etc.

Coming out from Houston. Looking forward to a fun trip, just so overwhelmed at all the hotel choices, etc. First-timers, too.

Outrigger's sister, Ohana Hotels can be a good deal, as long as you stay away from their very budget hotels like the Ala Wai Towers, and the Waikiki Hobron. The Maile Skycourt is a pretty good hotel, as long as you're not expecting ocean views or being a block away from the beach. Also, my keiki had to sell entertainment books as a fundraiser this past year. Apparently, even the kama'aina didn't have enough use for it because only 1 was sold, so I can't endorse it. Thats just our personal experience, you may have different results.

With all due respect, the poster above does not know what they're talking about in relation to the Entertainment Book. Just because her friends didn't realize what a great buy this is, doesn't negate the fact that it is. Let's say you stay at an Outrigger hotel charging $100 / night, you get it for half-price with the E. Card. You've saved $50 right there for just ONE night, way more than you paid for the book in total. After that, it's gravy - and you have coupons for all kinds of things. Just had to clarify that!

1. Being that the Entertainment book is geared primarily towards tourists, wouldn't it only make sense that there would be limited interest in it among locals?

2. This is the second negative reference I've seen about the Ala Wai Towers and the Hobron. Can anyone specify what is wrong w/ them?

I agree with you completely. Thats why I said that you may different results. Just had to clarify that!

We residents of Hawaii always receive a Kama'aina rate at most hotels on any of the islands which saves alot off of the regular rates any time of the year. Of course, we have to prove that we're residents by showing appropriate identification to reap these benefits. So naturally, residents don't purchase the E-Books for the hotel benefits because its not considered a "deal" to us. Again, non residents may have different results. Again, just wanted to clarify that.
