VRBO question

We have never rented from VRBO, so I was wondering how do you get the keys for your rental property? Do you meet the owner at the door, how does this work?
I am inquiring because we are moving out of state and thinking of keeping our home and listing it on VRBO or something similar. My question is how the key transaction would work if we are out of state.
Any help would be great.

You don't rent from VRBO - you rent from the individual owners. So each owner will have his/her specific procedures. Some meet you, some mail you keys, some have a res. Manager, Some leave th ekeys under the mat - whatever.

You need to ask the owner of the property you chose . . . . .

The last one I rented from had a key box like realtors use. They gave me the passcode the day before I left and their cleaning person changed it each week.

My wife and I own an oceanfront condo in Florida which we rent out. We recently installed a new lock on the front door with keyless entry. There is a numerical pad which requires a 4-digit code for entry.

We plan to use this for our next rental and then have some keys waiting for them on the kitchen counter or some other prominent place. The combination can be easily reset after each rental. I found this keyless entry lock at Home Depot and the price was about $100. They were kind enough to rekey the new lock to my old keys at no additional charge.
